That's brilliant. I love it ^_^ Probably makes color-matching at the hardware store easier, too...
Of course, it doesn't stop them from discontinueing that line the minute you need it, but......

    Madness takes it's toll....
    Please have exact change ready.

Natch. However, if they discontiue a color, and then, say, bring it back in a few years with a different name, calling it ALL NEW (and, of course, raising the price), at leass you would have a decent chance for a match ^_^

A customer brought in a can of old paint yesterday.
The girl in paint picked it up and shook it to see if it was liquid or solid, and the lid wasn't even snapped on.
The smelly liquid in the can went everywhere. Apparently, water had seeped in and it was all stagnant, as well as having the stink of old paint.
She was a mess. It went up in her face and all over her glasses, her hair, her clothes, the paint counter, the cabinet doors, and the floor.

If it wasn't so gross, it would have been hilarious. (Personally, I would never even think about shaking a can of paint without checking the lid first, but that's just me.)

A little trick that we've used at work is to pour kitty litter into old paint and let it dry. At that point it is no longer liquid and the volitile(sp) elements are no problem. Then it can go into the trash without violating the law (in the U.S.).

Or you can do what my dad does: he just pours all the left over paint into one big bucket and uses that to repaint his barn every few years. He doesn't care what weird color it is.
It sounds like he subscribes to the "Lee Petty School of Paint".

True story - the origin of the "Petty Blue" colour (a light blue) was the result of not having enough white *or* blue paint for the car, and not enough money to buy the rest of either colour. Being practical, Lee mixed the paint and thus, the origin of the colour.

Aye, but you would think that a person wouldn't be bringing it in -- let alone putting it in their car -- if the lid wasn't secure >_<

True, but I guess I've just worked with customers long enough to know you can't assume they've done the logical and intelligent thing.

We have this problem all the time at the resale/thrift store. Few mornings go by without something being left between close and the text morning. Items which are obvious that we can't resell, like ripped up couches and wet clothes. Worse are the ones who come up with things we either don't take because they won't sell or are not allowed to by law, like mattresses and then whine, "but I'm giving it to you for free!" Hello! It's not free to us if we have to pay a dump fee. We may be considered a charity, but the trash company and landfill don't give us any breaks.
