Excellent description, and I absolutely agree, everytime I hear that word in that tone of voice, I want to tape their mouths shut. I am this close .. to banning that word and putting it on the not allowed list in my house. Which really doesn't seem to matter, they don't listen anyway.
Have you started/can you start fining them? This worked wonders on our 11 year old when he wouldn't take the clue-by-fours that his language/tone/behavior was unacceptable.
Any day you're looking down at the dirt instead of up at the dirt is a good day.
