Well, having gone to school and/or worked with many of the local volunteer firemen, I can assure that in my area they definitely DO run the firehoses through the car windows.
That damage is not normally covered by insurance. Nor is any water/smoke/fire damage that may occur while the car is parked next the burning structure.
And the police issue a fine for blocking emergency services. To the tune of $3,000.00
The ticket alone is reason enough to not park in a fire lane, IMHO.
