I work for a gas company. Oftentimes we get customers who never called into put service in their name. Most of these understand that without that call we had no knowledge that they wanted the service to stay on.
Occasionally though we get SCs who are sure our psychic department just overlooked them. Just this last Friday I had one who felt we should have known that when his soon to be ex wife stopped the account that was only under her name that he would want the service put into his name.
Normally we would notify roommates listed on the account but his wife had never bothered to inform us he existed. Even when we asked if there was someone else living there with her she told us no there is not.
Not only did SC expect us to turn his service back on right away. Normal turn around is 2 business days because our techs are handling emergency calls as well as regular service calls. I was nice and got him a 1 day turn around that wasn't good enough for him so he hung up and spoke to my coworker who enforced the 2 day turn around naturally even after he threatened to sue us.
So customers here are some tips. One if someone is giving you an offer that he says is better than what he is supposed to be doing for you believe him and take it. Two if you kicked out your wife and filed a restraining order don't be surprised when she called everyone and stopped services she was paying for.
