You know, I teach my kids that there's rarely any harm in asking for something. Maybe, just maybe, you'll get a little extra something you want... but you have to be nice, and if they give you an unequivocal "no", then smile, say thank you, and move on. I've been given early check-in, late check-out, and a discount because I'm a veteran all because I asked nicely.
Turning into a jerk only wastes everyone's time, makes you look ignorant, and ensures that no one will ever get it.
But I'm preaching to the choir here. Too bad SCs and EWs don't read this kind of site.
When we go camping, I have started to reserve the site for the night of the day we are leaving just so we don't have to wake up and bust ass to get out of there by 11 am that morning. Of course, a camp site only costs $15-$25 a night... so maybe Dave's "guests" should get an RV instead and stay at campgrounds.
Your customers must be at least learning mind reading skills, because they seem to be now either excusing or explaining why they are using foul language.
If I have a late flight and a early check out time, I will generally take that opportunity to see something nearby that I wanted to see but didn't because of the stuff I really wanted to see that wasn't so close by. Generally there is enough time to do that and make it to the airport in time. If not, I don't mind hanging out in the airport for a couple hours and taking plane pictures.
