  • Nice try and theatrics, but NO WAY!!!

So at my job I'm by far the youngest Lead in the store, so perhaps guests think it'll be easier to get me to back down, but when I know the policy is pretty much inflexible on a certain point, I'm not going to bend, especially if you just act stupid right off the bat. On to the story....

So it was about 2 hours before closing last night, and I get called over to a register to address an issue, by the time I got there the "Lady" was already screaming at the cashier. Her problem? She had supposedly just bought the same item at our store across town for $4 dollars less and expected us to match.

First off, this item, a cloth pop out box, has never ever or would be that cheap, so strike one.

Secondly, if the price isn't advertised nationally, prices will vary store to store based on markets. So regaurdless of if they sold it to you al that price, we won't match it anyways, so strike two.

Thirdly, when asked for evidence in a receipt, she would magically change the subject to asking about another item's price. So strike three, you're out.

She went on to yell at me for 15 minutes, other guests everywhere, and I thought her head was going to explode. The lines, "This is bullshit" "I don't understand" "You're going to do it" and "I'll call them myself" made up the most of her words. In the end, she walked away without the items, I later called the other store for a price check, only to find they were the same price as ours! Yay for not caving (I only wish I would've called them in front of her, to see what she did then, oh well...)

If you had called them in front of her, she probably would have started accusing you of calling her a liar!

"What, you don't trust your customers when they say the price is lower somewhere else?!?!?! So you're saying I'm lieing to you about the price I paid?!?!? <insert cuss-filled rant about your nerve and lack of customer service loud enough to keep you from hearing the person on the other end of the line verify the price>"

Actually had this one happen to me.
Sorry, my cow died so I don't need your bull

Had a customer pull the old "Are you calling me a liar" line on me once. She claimed that we'd shorted her on one of her narcotic prescriptions. Shyeah, right, we count those three times before dispensing them and also keep a running count of what's left in stock, accurate to the tablet. Counted what I had, it matched what was in the book. I told her that there was no way she had gotten shorted, as my counts matched. She said "Well maybe your tech took some out of the bottle before she gave it to me." I said "Yeah, and maybe you lost (thinks: or sold, or otherwise disposed of) some of them and are trying to get more out of us." She said "Are you calling me a liar??" I said "Well, you're calling me a thief."

No, I did not cave and give her more tablets. I don't fsck around with controlled substances.

For which I bet your workplace is thankful. Federal narcotics laws are Serious Business.

(My opinion on the worth of said laws shall remain unstated, as that's well into fratching territory.)
No matter how low my opinion of humanity as a whole gets, there are always over-achievers who seek to surpass my expectations.

I don't really care for price matching. If its cheaper somewhere else, GO THERE!
