A few weeks back, one of our stores was robbed. Not MY store, but one I'd been transferred from last year. It's not in the best area, and there are some "notorious" apartments directly across the road from the store. Apparently, the robber pulled a gun on the night manager less than an hour into her shift. He got all the money in the store and took off... heading ON FOOT for the apartment complex across the street.
However, the police must have eaten their Wheaties that day, because they arrived in record time. The first car to arrive saw the guy running across the street, put two-and-two together, and hit the guy with his cruiser!
FYI: The manager is fine. She is still working nights there, but they close the store two hours earlier now. She's also far braver than I, because I'd be done at that location, I think.
Our company recovered the money, but the robber was given a state-funded bunk, three squares, and hopefully a new boyfriend with anger management issues.
