It's an excuse alright... I never said it was a good excuse.

Some people would rather sit and freeze in their cars than go into an "adult" store. Others might refuse to go into a synagogue or mosque. What if the only place to get out of the cold was a gay bar?

People's sense of outrage, religious, moral, or other, can be completely nonsensical at times. The stuff I heard come out of the mouths of some of the people in Minot about the "evil corporations" trying to take over the country and run honest local businesses into the ground... it made my brain hurt trying to follow the logic.

Seriously... corporations want to take over Minot, North Dakota??? Why not Minot? Freezin's the reason.

Okay, I know I'm a whiny wuss when it comes to cold, but I just can't believe this guy. I mean, sure, it sucks that his car broke down. And that he is stuck. But the service has just told you that you can wait inside where it's warm, and that the driver will call you when he gets there. To me, that would be absolutely heavenly.

JESTER: "You mean I can wait inside?"
      CSR: "Yes."
JESTER: "And the driver will call me when he gets here?"
      CSR: "Yes."
JESTER: "So I don't have to freeze my wussy little ass off waiting for him out here by my car?"
      CSR: "That is corre--"
JESTER" "WOO HOO!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!"

But your guy sounds like the type that couldn't be bothered to enter a business while waiting for a tow truck even if that business was a combination space heater retailer/electric blanket seller/hot chocolate bar!

      In other words, an idiot.

It starts officially on Monday but judging from the fact that we have snow on the ground and it's a week before Christmas, I think it slipped in here early.

He sat there for 4 hours and couldn't call a friend or family member either?

I may not have the most friends in the world, but there are 4 people I could call that would go anywhere in CT to help me out ....

Though myself, I use drive throughs as much as possible in the winter because crutches, balance/movement issues and snow/ice/slush are not a good combination. I could see me getting stuck in a parking lot and it may actually not be safe for me to try and leave my car.

[I am probably canceling out of my physio session later this morning because of this .... I don't need to fall and break something]

You see, if he would've told me there was another issue that prevented him from walking across the lot due to some medical condition, I would've called the police if he liked it or not. BUT - he said something along the lines of, "I'm NOT walking across this lot! It's TOO COLD!!!" There was no mention of crutches or some other physical limitation to his movement across the lot other than it was too cold. So, even the reward of a warm, toasty place to wait was not good enough...

Um, it was winter in early October for some of us. We saw our first snowfall (albeit just a few inches here and there throughout the month) and first taste of cold weather then.

Then we got spoiled with a beautiful mild, DRY, warm November with above average temps and not a flake of snow....but the hillbillies and hunters bitched and whined about it.

So Mother Nature listened to their bitching and right into December, she and Frosty had some Snow Sex and gave us a blizzard.

                    I'm with you.

Actually, I wouldn't have even called until I was back inside the shop, I hate cold that much.

And since most of those places have small food concessions inside, I could get myself a hot drink while I waited, which would be a whole hell of a lot better than waiting for 4 hours in a cold car.

Wow. So he was in WM, therefore walking from his car to WM shopping and then back but wouldn't walk back in to stay warm and maybe get something to eat as many near me have a Subway in them. What a idiot.
