I used to be a cashier. This is the incident that happened on my last ever cash shift, and caused me to beg my manager to let me be a health and beauty assistant instead.
SC brings up a package of batteries to my till. It's one of those big 12 packs of AAs.
SC: Could you check how much this is?
Me: absolutely.
I scan it and tell him the price, which is on sale.
SC: Are the other batteries on sale?
Me: Sorry sir I don't know. I can call someone from the electronics department who handles the batteries to come here and speak with you. I unfortunately haven't been able to go down the battery aisle today to see which ones are on sale.
SC: Well you are fucking useless aren't you?
He then hurls the 12 pack of batteries overhand at my head. Luckily I ducked, or I would quite possibly have gotten a concussion or a huge black eye.
The SC tries to storm off, but lucky for me my manager was standing at the service desk, and saw the whole thing.
Manager: Sir, what did you just do? I am going to have to ask you to leave the store now, you cannot be throwing merchandise at my cashiers.
The guy was escorted out of the store, and I have never seen him again. I had to leave the register and sit down for a moment, as I was shaking like a leaf. I asked my manager that day if I could please never have a cash shift again, as I couldn't handle having things thrown at me.
