Do a little research, read a couple of reviews, watch a trailer, ask friends with similar tastes, talk to cinema staff, and you can reduce those chances a lot.
I usually do that, and the only time it failed me was when I saw Pulp Fiction. I know, I'm probably in the minority but I -hated- that movie.

The only time I ever asked for my money back for a movie was due to faulty equipment, and it was the second time it had happened in the same multiplex, several months between movies, even in different theaters. I was ticked the first time but didn't ask for a refund. The second time, the sound went out half an hour in and even though two patrons went to find someone to fix it, it still took another fifteen minutes to even get a manager in there, let alone fixed, and I didn't have time to stick around after it took them another fifteen to get it working again. The worst part was that the manager got snotty when I asked for my refund. I've never been back there.

I went to see The Watchmen in a different theater and the sound went out as well for about five minutes but they raced to fix it and gave everyone tickets to see it again another time. Big difference! And they still have my business.

But he didn't pay for that other movie. to me, that's a "theft of service" Cops should've been called for that as well. He viewed two movies, he should've PAID for two movies. Maybe I'm being overly technical, but that's how I see it.

Understood. I do all that, and it's extremely rare that it happens. But once in a great while, it does. I think it's happened maybe twice in my lifetime.
I wasn't really directing my comment at you. More the at SCs who pick films at random.

These days I get paid to watch crap films as well as the good ones, so I can't avoid them.

I've never walked out of a movie, probably cuz I only go to see movies that I know I'll like. XD

A mate of mine went to see Battlestar Galactica (I think that's what it was called) and walked out. He got refunded for his ticket; probably cuz he asked nicely. XD

Unless it was some special theatrical showing, that's a TV show. Not a movie. And if it was some special showing, he's got horrible taste, and you can tell him I said so

Battlestar Earth? Some crappy scifi movie starring John Travolta that was utter pants.

BATTLEFIELD EARTH?! AND HE'S STILL SANE?! Damn, he's got some mental chops. Never mind telling him his taste is pants, dude's tough enough to survive that crap-fest, he can watch whatever he wants.

OMG, Battlefield Earth... I was in the AF when that jewel came out, and there was no end to the ribbing that the pilots got over the fact that after centuries of without a functional civilization, cavemen were able to hop into the jets and fly them with no education and no training.

I chose the handwave the fact that the jet fuel (whether it's JP-5 or JP-8) would have been nothing but goo after that many years, no matter where it was stored.

And yeah, I wasted money going to see that one. My only consolation is the fact that I saw it a a $1 theater.

                          I um. Saw Pluto Nash.

                          It wasnt... bad.

The only movie I ever ask for a refund was for Batman and Robin. Not even halfway through I begged mom for us to leave. We got up. Went to counter. I opened my mouth to say I hate Bat-

And the lady got our refund out quickly. Like I wasn't the first one to ask for it or walkout on the movie.

Under the same faulty logic, I wonder how many times a year the offices of pro soprts teams get angry letters from fans demanding refunds because the game they went to see was a loss/wasn't exciting?

                            And they aren't joking?!

Battlefield Earth. That's the movie I actually kept watching because I actually hoped it would get better. Sadly....It kept getting worse. If there was ever a case against Scientology, it's that movie.

It doesn't even have the redeeming feature of being so bad, it's funny. XD My friend tried to defend his choice in movie by saying, "But you have a copy of Kiss Meets The Phantom!" Yes, I do. But it's absolutely fricking hilarious.

I still wish something like that would happen to Miste Boll... I'd say he's the new Ed Wood, but Ed Wood had some redeeming qualities.

Oddly I enjoyed Battlefield Earth, just took it as is, a Soft SF story that I just had fun with, regardless of things that would make me >< otherwise... however...

Doesn't surprise me, I've always said that if I ever write anything that's slightly grimdark and Joel Schumacher wants to direct it I'll hand it over to Mr. Boll first, before hiring some nutjobs to bomb the place.... Yes I've tried watching B&R, but I can't, I just can't. *cries and curls up in a corner*
