Doesn't surprise me, I've always said that if I ever write anything that's slightly grimdark and Joel Schumacher wants to direct it I'll hand it over to Mr. Boll first, before hiring some nutjobs to bomb the place.... Yes I've tried watching B&R, but I can't, I just can't. *cries and curls up in a corner*
I'm a Batman fan. I forced myself to watch it through once.

    ...

My soul died a little that day.

BUT: There is a shining light! For Joel got his wish to put Batman on Broadway!

I have never in my life walked out on a movie. The only one I came close on was Supernova because I just couldn't get into it, but I figured since I paid full price, I might as well stay and watch it.

I have never in my life walked out on a movie.
Does it count if I leave, but then come back?

Well, no, I did walk out of Cloverfield, but that was to prevent violent motion-sickness-inspired vomiting, so I don't really count that.

But I was watching Christmas with the Kranks, and I left for about 30 minutes in the middle, then went back in. I dunno why I went back in. The movie didn't get any better.

I got dragged to see Magnolia. As soon as the movie ended I turned to my friend and said, "Gee, thanks, that's 3 hours of my life I'll never get back!" That was the LAST time I let said friend drag me to a movie.

I've only ever walked out on two.

First, A Beautiful Mind. It was high school, and a group of us had been going to various movies all summer. And this one guy picked three slow-paced dramas in a row, and that was the third one. I gave up about half an hour before the end because I just couldn't stand feeling like it would just keep dragging on and on without getting anywhere any longer.

Second, The Spirit. Asilin and I lasted about 15 minutes before the monologuing and utterly idiotic plot and jokes just got to be too much.

I don't recall ever walking out of a movie. I did sleep through Spawn. And both myself and and a mate really wished we had walked out of Thin Red Line.

I walked out of "Tomb Raider". And I was watching it for free, so you know it was bad.

Another movie I kept watching because I hoped at some point it would get better. I remember when it came out and people were going ga ga over it because it was the anti-Private Ryan. They were saying there were no cliches in yet. Um yeah, there were no cliches like...oh I don't know...the guy dying after the Dear John letter. Nope...nothing like that in there. The sad part is, it took the director an half hour to kill the guy. That was the first World War II movie I was actually hoping they would show Hiroshima, just so it would end. That is...until Pearl Harbor......

I've seen some movies that turned out to suck, including one or two that I ended up walking out on, but I never thought of asking for a refund. I figured that's a chance you take when you go see a movie.
Yep, that's how I've always felt.

As for guy, how does he even by his own logic expect you'll refund him? He already admitted he watched another movie. Does he expect that if you return a product at a store for another product that they also refund the money as well?!

I usually do that, and the only time it failed me was when I saw Pulp Fiction. I know, I'm probably in the minority but I -hated- that movie.
Yippee! I thought *I* was the only one!
You guys are not alone. In fact, that was one of the few where I even considered walking out. But I never considered requesting a refund--only one where the sound failed and the print broke on them (the manager was great about that and gave a voucher for any showing as the showing where that occurred was a bargain matinee).

But he didn't pay for that other movie. to me, that's a "theft of service" Cops should've been called for that as well. He viewed two movies, he should've PAID for two movies. Maybe I'm being overly technical, but that's how I see it.

OMG, Battlefield Earth... I was in the AF when that jewel came out, and there was no end to the ribbing that the pilots got over the fact that after centuries of without a functional civilization, cavemen were able to hop into the jets and fly them with no education and no training.

I chose the handwave the fact that the jet fuel (whether it's JP-5 or JP-8) would have been nothing but goo after that many years, no matter where it was stored.

And yeah, I wasted money going to see that one. My only consolation is the fact that I saw it a a $1 theater.

It's like I've said for awhile now: Some movies just require that you be in the right state of mind. I loved The Spirit and Sky Captain and the World of Tommorrow because I was looking for them to be tributes to the Golden Age comics and radio serials, and they were exactly that kind of camp I went in looking for. I can imagine thay would be disappointing if you expected hard science and dark, serious, modern comic-type stories.

                            No. Nooooooooooooooo. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

No. I watched the Spirit. I knew what it was supposed to be. I was expecting something like the old radio serial of The Shadow, with a bit of Sin City (due to Frank Miller), instead, I got one of the worst movies I've ever seen. I went in fully prepared to like it. And I just... ergh. Waste. Of. My. Time.

What's worse is I then called a friend over to watch it with me and I went through it AGAIN. It was not any better.

It was bizarre and disappointing. Samual Jackson was wasted. I couldn't figure out whether it was supposed to be period (with 30's cars, planes and cop uniforms) or modern (with an attack helicopter). It was a mish mash.
