they are 40hr/week full time positions and they give you all the training XD

you have no excuse! come and work with me!
Actually I have a good one, it's called a student visa that restricts the amount of work I can do per week during term time. Tell you what you take management, I'll be your part time minion.
How was I supposed to know someone was slipping you Birth Control in the food I've been making for you lately?

now i gotta look up what "trading standards" is

oo it looks a little like our BBB, only with government backing.

and it sounds like they're NOT into "the customer is always right"
      nice

        Student Visas do that?

hmm. I would go in for a management position but I would suck at it and where I am, I doubt I would command much respect. allthough, working with another cser would be awesome

They're not ^_^ basically trading standards is all about making sure the customer isn't getting a raw deal or that the company isn't out-right breakign the law. there's more to it than that but thats it in its simplified form.

If we get it worng (which I have seen happen at our store) then oh GOD do they ever come down on us like a ton of bricks. Seriously, if you see trading standards coming and you know it's your company in the wrong; get out of the way. HOWEVER, they will take the company or CSR's side when they are in the right.

Interestingly enough they take a very hard line when you get a sucky customer who is rude or offensive to the CSR, but that has to be prooven (easily done with CCTV) so if say, A customer comes in, is well within their rights for a refund but yells and screams at me, I can boot them out. when They call trading standards (which they invariably do) trading standards will call me and say "Flea. WTF, Guy?" and when I proove to them that the SC was an arsehole to me, they will go back to the SC and say "Yeah. We don't blame him. You caused the problem, you're getting no help from us"

They do all kinds of fun things such as full time is only allowed during break and if I go beyond the rules both I and the employer get in trouble. Mind you only one of us get deported.

Go for management, you might actually be respected or you might not depending if your coworkers realise there's a line between friend and boss.

Oh magical CCTV and your chain of evidence, how I adore you when you're maintained properly.

I think the point of the student visa is that, during term time, you're supposed to spending at least half of the working day (on average) in class. You also need time for revision and assignments.

So they officially only allow you to do a part-time job, and though I suspect they would overlook some very minor transgressions, they do take the major ones seriously.

There's also my fear of failing to take into account AND the fact If i manage the store I'm at now, all my co-workers know my weak spots

Ours always is It's a company policy. If any part of the CCTV goes down, the local alarm monitoring station, which are a third party company (in our case, ADT) raise an alarm to head office who dispatch somone from ID VIsion that day to investigate

The more I learn about England, the more I want to move there.

Sigh. I have the passport for it, I just don't have the money.

We went digital (Canada) last year.

There were ads all over (radio, tv commercials, newspaper articles) you would have to be blind deaf and dumb to miss ANY mention of it (as even if you somehow missed every single ad about the switch, people talked about it).

Anyways about a week ago, a coworker complained that her new tv wasn't working good. (i'm no techy expert but i can hook basic electronics up) I asked her if maybe her cables were loose or something (or we'd had bad weather so if she had satellite could ajust been interference from storms).

But no, long story short, she has an aerial antenna, NEVER made the switch over to a digital receiever and had NO idea that the analog signal has been stopped she asked me in total surprise 'when did that happen'

                  me: 'sometime early last year'.

and yea apparently it's my understanding she doesn't watch tv hardly at all and used her tv for movies. but still it was all over the news (as in newspapers) whcih i know she reads b/c sh'es up on current events.
Common sense... So rare it's a goddamn superpower.

Trust me, Stay where you are. there is ZERO work here. Companies are promoting and hireing from within. It's not what you know anymore, it's WHO you know.

But if she has an antenna, surely all she needs for that is a digital Converter box? (we call them "Freeview boxes" over here)

I can't believe some people though. If she kept up with news and goings on she should know about the digital switchover.

My uncle (who sadly died the other week) made me "WTF" about this a few months back. He was saying how much he needed to get a Freeview Box. I told him that we have a spare one which he is welcome to. He then very quickly tells me that he's going to wait untill closer to the time *headwall*
