Only cost is your ability to trust others and loving oneself.
That trust? Sometimes you never find it. I only learned a few years ago that everything that makes me weird and turns people off has a name. Autism. I have learned through painful experience never to tell this to anyone. I told my boss at the time... and she started treating me like I was disgustingly defective. I quit.

To this day only one person besides my husband knows about, and I only told her because she's my immediate supervisor and I was dangerously close to losing THIS job. I explained things to her, and she has treated me very well ever since, which surprised the hell out of me. She has my undying loyalty from now until forever, in my opinion.

I will probably never be able to tell anyone else, because the stigma is horrible and I just can't deal with it.

I tell everyone about my Asperger's syndrome. Largely because I've learned that once I tell them, it's their problem now, not mine.
