    This is not a hotel

There's been this car parked toward the back of the property all day. When I first saw it at 9 am, no big deal. There were boxes outside next to a unit door, figured he was reorganizing things. A couple hours later, still there. Nothing had changed. Owner has been around nearly all day. I ran into him outside about 2pm, asked him about this unit because car was still there, boxes still stacked in the same place. Owner had gone to check it out and said he tought the guy was asleep. I went out to check at 4pm because I was getting a little worried (what if he died in there?). There had been no signs of life. And it had been pouring for an hour and his boxes were getting wet.

I got up to the unit and chickened out. Saw blankets in the back of the car and the unit door was pulled 3/4 of the way down, but I could see a sofa in there. I stood outside for 20 minutes trying to figure out what I Was going to do. If it was really a problem, the owner would have taken care of it. So I figured if he was still there at 6pm, I was calling the cops. I was hanging out in the office when the owner came in at 5. I asked about the guy and owner said he knocked on the door and asked if the guy was okay. Guy said he was doing bookwork.

Yeah. For 8 hours.....in the dark?

Owner told him he couldn't use his storage as a hotel.

Office is closed up. Owner has gone home. Guy is still here. Boxes sitting there untouched. Now that we know he's ok, he has until 9pm before we call the police (when we close the gate). And we have a heavy thunderstorm heading in (getting darker as I type).

    Yeah, for 8 hours

You know those SCs think you are at their beck and call 24/7. We have had auctions at most of the locations we work for over the last couple of weeks. Tonite I had yet another asshole call 10 minutes before closing to try to make a credit card payment to avoid his stuff being auctioned tomorrow. When the credit card was declined he said he would call his bank and call back. I warned him that we were about to close and that I would not wait for him and he got all mouthy. I finally told him that he had known for over a month that this was coming and that I did not owe it to any of the auction customers to stay late the night before the auction to help them. He said he would call back in a minute and I had not heard from him when I left for the evening. Not my problem if he loses his stuff

I was going to have the Man go out there and talk to him when he got home from work (just after 6), but the guy left about 5 minutes before he got home. Haven't seen him today. Must have all his "bookwork" done.

I'd been on the phone with the Man about it before I went out there at 4, and he was pushing me to go out there, but I wanted to wait for the kids to get home first so they didn't come back looking for me in case I had discovered something grisly. I wanted to keep them away.

freeatlast, I've never had that, but I always get irritated by the people that know it's coming close to the wire and frantically call me over and over telling me that they are trying to get the money. And I always wonder why they didn't try this hard sooner and avoid this kind of situation.
