When I was a baby my mom loaded groceries into her car and returned her cart to the corral with me in it. She didn't realize she had forgotten me until she got back in the car. Thank goodness she remembered! My mom's a good mom too, she just had a braindead moment.

My mom and her little sister got left behind at a gas station once. They stopped for gas and my grands were distracted and didn't see my mom and aunt get out of the car for the bathroom. Mom remembers leaving the bathroom to see the car driving away. My grands didn't know a thing until my uncle, who was still in the car, started laughing a few miles down the road. My grandmother turned around going, "Now what are you laughing a- THE GIRLS!"

I call bullshit. People who leave their kids in the car to fry in the heat ARE stupid. I have had 3 kids and not ONCE have they ever been left in a car alone for even a second. In the heat or any other thing. There is no excuse.

I used to think as you do... read the article; you'll understand.
That's happened here, too. While it's a tragic accident, that's all it is....an accident. These are not malicious, stupid people.

That's not to say that some parents aren't morons and leave kids in the car on purpose while they go shopping or whatever, (THAT should be, and is, criminal) but total accidents happen too.
Ah, yes, those people (and I use that term loosely). Had one here once that thought it was just hunky-dory that she leave her kid in the car while she went into once of the casinos to play bingo for several hours.

I grew up in a trashy town where seeing my friends sitting in cars all evening, every night of the week was the norm. They barely ever slept in their own beds. When they got home from school their moms or dads (always just one parent, while the other was at work) would make them sit in the car all evening, no water, no toilet, no books, no toys, no blankets, while the parent was getting drunk and flirty with whoever was in the bar that night.

And this was considered appropriate and normal. I caught my mom in tears once, she just wanted to bundle up everyone else's kids and bring them over to be taken care of. And no, calling the cops would do nothing. The cops did it, too.

Also, not even a week ago, the bf and I were pulling out of a parking lot next to a bar and i saw a man and woman get out of their car, leaving 3 kids in the back seat. The man was one of the kids I remember seeing sitting in the car all the time, while his mom was "makin it" with a man not her husband.

I'll choose to be more angry at "on purpose" over "by accident" any day of the week.
