You can't be serious to think that people think the info is in the screen and not on the actual computer.

Come now, we all know better than to overestimate the intelligence of the average SC ...

Then again, the fact that many computers (Apple, some Gateways, etc) really DO put all of the mobo circuitry, the HD, and the optical drive *inside of* a really thick LCD doesn't help.

Or, y'know, that's what gift cards are for. Say what you want about them being impersonal, but I LOVE to get bookstore gift cards as presents.

I love 'em. I put my family on notice years ago that I'm easy to shop for:
- bookstore gift cards
- GameStore gift cards
- cash money or visa/mc gift cards

My GOD, my left eye is twitching after watching that.

I can get the idea that she didn't know that the monitor wasn't the PC. There are computers around that are one unit.

If I was generous I could give her a pass on insisting that the PC was called a 'box', even when the expert you are consulting is telling you that you are wrong.

But when she couldn't understand the concept of 'inside' the PC, that was when I made the decision to swear an oath.

If a woman like that was bludgeoned to death with a 'box', or strangled with a power cable, or whatever, then were I on the jury, I'd acquit in an instant on grounds of diminished responsibility.

Unfortunately, even the simplest thing about computers can for more people than we think be difficult to comprehend... Hence people asking me "..to check the screen"

I can just imagine the havoc I'd create saying something like that. SC's have no sense of humour..
