For the record though, unlike Sacramento, Salt Lake has NO redeeming qualities outside of cheap rent and utilities, and the utility companies are doing their best to fix that second part
Magpie, having lived in your area for nearly 10 years I totally agree with you that K-W is miles ahead of Toronto in terms of desirability. I just find T.O. to be too daunting and stressful to deal with. Decent place to visit, but not where I'd want to live.
I'm from Ottawa originally and I do like it there it's got enough big city stuff but it's still small enough to be a pretty nice place, although, like any city there are places you don't want to go.

Ironically enough, one of the things I LOVE about KW is that we're close enough to Toronto for easy day trips (especially now that we have GO buses and the promise of trains).

I used to love that too! Several years ago, you could get a round trip same day ticket to T.O. on greyhound for around $25.
