Buyback bumfuckery...part deux... now with bonus phone fsck ups!! (kinda long...)
What's to stop someone from selling back books multiple times for a chance at plinko money? I'm not talking about someone stealing books, just curious why students don't come back later with more books and in an effort to up their plinko money? If I knew I'd only be getting a few dollars for a buyback (my worst was $12 for a $120 new sociology text, ouch), I might try to boost my chances with plinko.
Then again, I'd have to wait in line each time. And wait. And wait. So maybe I wouldn't after all.
plus there is also the fact that waiting longer might mean that the shop has gotten more copies of the book you want to sell so the price they are offering will go down...
best to go as soon as you can with all of your books.

CW: So what exactly do you do in retentions?
Me: ummm, I ....retent stuff?
My wife has been getting her books off Amazon, and is able to sell them back at the local community college bookstore. Usually for more than what she was charged... (I'm still surprised the bookstore will buy them back even when bought from a different source).
Why the hell are COLLEGE STUDENTS so bad at BASIC MATH???
Well, in my case, I have always been terrible at basic math, but I think it's because by college age, most students have done so much more complicated math that their mind automatically goes to the complicated part. I dunno. That or we have used calculators for so long, that we are just used to typing it in *shrug*

Why the hell are COLLEGE STUDENTS so bad at BASIC MATH???
Holy Thread Bump Batman!
But I digress. I've noticed a lot of people of all ages bad at basic math.
Like the lady that wanted two 60"x48" pieces of plywood cut from 1 sheet of 96"x48" plywood.
Or the amount of people who when I'm doing math in my head will stare at me dumbfounded that I can add in my head. Worse are the ones who try to answer me saying "66+13" with "80!" causing me to lose my train of thought and need a calculator.
