I've never worked in a store that required employees to ask about opening charge accounts. I can't imagine what that must be like. I don't get annoyed when employees ask me to open one, but I do say no. With all the regulations our government here in the US recently passed to reform credit card practices, I'm surprised it didn't include something to prohibit employers from requiring employees to aggressively push store charge cards.

I have Mastercard, Visa, and American Express already. I also have a very high FICO score and opening a new charge card will cause me to loose points. To me it isn't worth having my FICO score plunge just to save 10% on a pair of pants or a bottle of cologne. I wish that the general public knew more about this and then maybe there would be outrage.

It reminds me of a call I made the other day to American Express about a problem with my account. After resolving my issue the lady I spoke with proceeded to try to sell me an identity theft protection plan. After I said no several times she then tried to sell me a life insurance plan. Again it took persistance to get her to give up. I don't blame her though, I'm sure she is required to do this and since the call is recorded she would probably get penalized if she didn't go through the spiel.

In fact, I should probably go to the website of my credit card and complain! What do you think? Should I or would it get the lady in trouble?

A bunch of irrelevant posts about how employees in other stores treat their customers. You want to post stories or complain about clerks who don't take "no" for an answer? Start your own thread in Sightings.

Posting those stories here falls under failing to the see the suck. Something that is against the rules of this site.
