I don't know where you went but from the sounds of it they are pretty sketch. I hate when people do stuff like that, its how the whole industry gets a seriously bad reputation. The presentation should make you fall in love with the company and their locations but the real pitch should be one on one and actually address the concerns of the potential buyer and if they flat out refuse to show you the rule book then you can guarantee that there are some shenanigans going on.

(Nope, just that you can stay here and enjoy all sorts of free crap, plus you get discounts at tons of local places...

To put it more simply, Mr. and Mrs. EW, here's the deal.

Ownership gets you everything IN YOUR ROOM. That is YOURS.

It also gets you SOME perks OUTSIDE of your room. But you don't OWN those. You simply own THE ROOM. Once you LEAVE the room, you get SOME perks because the property promised you those so you would BUY.

So, despite what you think, ownership does NOT entitle you to, as you might say, "whatever the hell I want."
