  • Why must these people shop at the swamp?

Did not experience this one firsthand. I got to hear about it though.

Some lady comes into the store Saturday, asks about the one remaining water fountain we have on display. Whoever helps her scans the label on the fountain and finds the display is the last one we have left, so she'd have to buy the display.

Oh, but she doesn't want to buy it on Saturday, because she got her "Sunday shopper" newspaper early and saw the fountain would priced $10 lower on Sunday. She asks if she can get that lower price on Saturday, and is rebuffed.

Then she decides to fish for a discount--"I should really get something extra off because this is a display, you mean an extra 10% is the best you can do?, is that a scratch on the side there? I should get something off for that!"--but doesn't get us to go any lower than the aforementioned extra 10% off. So she leaves.

Later on, that same fountain sells to somebody who pays full price for it, doesn't try to haggle us down, and doesn't return the receipt the following day for a price adjustment (and I am really grateful the person who helped the lady didn't mention she could get a price adjustment Sunday after buying the fountain Saturday. I really hate when people do this and find it obnoxiously cheap. But we would've done one for her if she asked for it and had her receipt.).

Sunday afternoon comes and the lady comes back to buy the fountain, which we now no longer have. Cue a bunch of histrionics about "why do you advertise things and not have them in stock BAWWWWWWWWWW" and a bunch of other BS.

Seriously, why can't these people keep themselves confined to Wally World? I swear we're getting their customers in the store more and more now. How else can we explain the store being even more trashed day in and day out than it ever was, with the same manpower we've had for a couple years now?

Well at least she isn't the one who scratched the fountain....we hope.

So silly. She doesn't know the laws of "hunting." If you see it and you really want it, get it then.

Yeah, really. I get so annoyed with folks who say "Well, I saw it here a few days ago !! I should have gotten it then". Yes. Yes you should have.

          That woman just screams "tacky".

Don't think people like that are just Wal-Mart rejects....my little brother is certain that everyone that shops at the K-Mart he works at is related to Mr Krabbs with how cheap and tacky they are about discounts and clearance items.

Or as I say, "Get it or regret it".
I love how these people expect you to just hold everything indefinitely on the merest chance they will come back and want to buy it (cheaply).

I agree. It's her fault that she didn't get it. She was there and was told that it was the last one the store had. I don't see any problem with waiting until the next day since it was going on sale then. But if she had the sense God gave a donut she would realize that by doing so she was taking a chance that someone else would buy it by then. If she wasn't willing to risk that then she should have bought it the day before. I would have if it was something I wanted that badly.

yep, the rules of the hunt; buy now or miss out, especially when it's the very last model.

I really hate when stores do this. I know how to read. If the sale starts Sunday, I know I can wait until Sunday to buy it cheaper, or if I want it now I'll have to pay full price.

What's really annoying is if I show up early in the morning on the day the sale starts and the item I came for is sold out, but people who bought it in the previous week will retroactively get the sale price. This is another case of reasonable customers being screwed over for not throwing a public bitch fit and being given whatever they want to make them be quiet.

I refuse to continue doing business with any store that gives preferential treatment to "customers" who are rude and abusive. I make sure they know why I'm not spending my money there anymore, and I do it politely.

No! Don't send them to Wal-Mart. I've got enough dumbbunnies to clean up after already.
