Did not experience this one firsthand. I got to hear about it though.
Some lady comes into the store Saturday, asks about the one remaining water fountain we have on display. Whoever helps her scans the label on the fountain and finds the display is the last one we have left, so she'd have to buy the display.
Oh, but she doesn't want to buy it on Saturday, because she got her "Sunday shopper" newspaper early and saw the fountain would priced $10 lower on Sunday. She asks if she can get that lower price on Saturday, and is rebuffed.
Then she decides to fish for a discount--"I should really get something extra off because this is a display, you mean an extra 10% is the best you can do?, is that a scratch on the side there? I should get something off for that!"--but doesn't get us to go any lower than the aforementioned extra 10% off. So she leaves.
Later on, that same fountain sells to somebody who pays full price for it, doesn't try to haggle us down, and doesn't return the receipt the following day for a price adjustment (and I am really grateful the person who helped the lady didn't mention she could get a price adjustment Sunday after buying the fountain Saturday. I really hate when people do this and find it obnoxiously cheap. But we would've done one for her if she asked for it and had her receipt.).
Sunday afternoon comes and the lady comes back to buy the fountain, which we now no longer have. Cue a bunch of histrionics about "why do you advertise things and not have them in stock BAWWWWWWWWWW" and a bunch of other BS.
Seriously, why can't these people keep themselves confined to Wally World? I swear we're getting their customers in the store more and more now. How else can we explain the store being even more trashed day in and day out than it ever was, with the same manpower we've had for a couple years now?
