When a sale ends, and a product goes back to its regular price, would you say that the store has "raised" their prices?
If you are a reasonable person, you would answer "No".
But this guy was not a reasonable person. He stood in my store for ten minutes arguing with me about this.
Him: I got this for $9.95 last time!
Me: Yes, you probably did. That product was on sale for several weeks, but unfortunately that sale has since ended. It is now back to its regular price of $11.45.
Him: So you raised the price!
Me: No, we ended the sale. We lowered the price for several weeks as part of a promotion, but that promotion has since ended.
Him: So you jacked the price up, then.
Me: No, we removed the discount and the product is back to its regular price. The price is no higher than it was originally.
Him: You're arguing semantics with me now. You raised the price, and you won't admit it.
Me: .....
Him: Are you going to give me this for $9.95 or what?
Me: No.
He ended up paying full price, despite me showing him several other similar products under $10.
