Sorry, it's been a long day full of much griping, bitching, moaning and reality issues. Last night some storms did some serious damage to our equipment knocking out many phones, cable and internet service, major major outages all across two states and all we can do is apologize and let em know that it's being fixed. We are happy to credit the customers back for loss of service but until its resolved we cannot issue credits as we dont know when their services will be restored. Since we knew of the outages we were on quick call status, dont file paperwork, we know shits broke move on to the next call. One guy took offense to a lot of things tonight especially with me. He made such a huge deal out of the outage, I relayed what was given, he denied that as being the truth, wanted me to just say the outage was 48 hrs and give him credit now(not happening I am not falsifying information just so he can get back his 1.20), but I was willing to take his information (he was in the outage area so normally wouldnt have needed to file anything but I digress) and asked for him name and the last 4 of his social which is what we normally use to verify the account, suddenly he's having coniptions that I am asking for the last 4 of the social security number as illegal, no its not! If I asked for the entire number then yeah uberbad nono!!!Round and round we went, I was filing anything until we verified the account no ifs ands or buts about it. I don't just pacify and say I am doing it just to get them to stfu, it could be my job. And thus began the gimme your manager game, now I cannot give it to a manager unless they have verified the account, no way around it so hell no am I doing it! Round and round and round, he insulted me(I am a moron, I am a good soldier, I am too dumb, ect ect ad nauseum). I can take name calling, he did curse but not specifically at me just the system so I didn't care. He kept telling me he was going to write his state representative that I was violating the law asking for the social security number, I asked him to be specific when he did as I only asked for the last 4. He dared me to hang up, told him no I wasn't going to hang up as I had no justification to hang up, he would need to disconnect from the call, he screamed for the manager again and I said in no particular order, no, no sir, negative, nope, over and over. Finally he did drop from the call and got one of my coworkers and he was trying to set up for a complaint when she asked for the SSN# and thus began the process of stupidity again!!!
After the call, I felt the need to bum a cigarette and smoke for the first time in nearly two years I was sooooo pissed. I wanted to help that's all I wanted and he turned into psycho ass! Forgive my typing for errors, if it looked like a dyslexic wolverine trying to type help I am having an anurism, I was just writing as fast as I could remember details....thanks for reading my BLARGABLARGABLARGABLARGABLARGABLARGABLARGA!
