There's one really creepy SC who comes in sometimes two or three times a day. I don't like having him come through my lane because of how a 40 something white trash male looks at me (20something female). He also has a slight speech impediment so it sounds like he is leering at me. He's on food stamps but still somehow has money for a YMCA membership. He insists on everyone stapling his two receipts together, something I don't do because it's something that no one else demands and he's just too lazy to do it himself.
I was not having the best day yesterday. I worked 12 hours between the two jobs, retail and secretary. I just started at the office and went in at 9 am for a couple hours. I really didn't want to go to the retail job. It pays less for work that is far more physically demanding. I also had forgotten to take my allergy medication and it was very humid out.
I was not thrilled to see him come through my lane. He tries to make inane small talk with me when I'm in no mood to chat with him. I hand him his receipts and thank him for shopping. He then demands that I staple them and I try to pretend I didn't hear him. He asks what's wrong. I tell him that I'm not feeling well and my allergies are bothering me. He then asks if I am allergic to stapling things. I wanted to tell him that I am allergic to entitled white trash like yourself, but really didn't feel like getting fired. I staple it in the middle just to get his ugly ass face out my lane.
I find out today that I got an anonymous customer complaint about me because I was talking about a lesbian sex site. I am understandably appalled by this because I have a sense of decency. I tell my manager that the customer was lying and that it is false. I know the douchebag made it up to get back at me, because it sounded like something a middle aged man with issues towards women would say.
If I didn't care about keeping this job, I would confront him and call him out for what he is - a lazy, entitled white trash piece of shit male. I also wouldn't hesitate to spray mace or pepperspray at him if he ever threatens me again.
I'm surprised that I haven't gotten a complaint for denying the use of a fake Coke coupon. It was one of those that looked like it came out of the same template as the fake Doritos one and I had never seen the customer before. I called customer service for a supervisor asking if he had seen any of these coupons and if they were legit. My hunch was that it was faked and I was backed up after reading off the coupon over the phone. The customer's reaction confirmed that she knew it was fake. She just left and didn't protest at all. I hope she didn't try to scam another cashier or one of the other stores in town with it.
I feel that my employer takes customer complaints too seriously and at least half, if not more, are either made up or significantly exaggerated. Probably less than a fourth are real ones that merit serious action, but most of those are made against employees with more seniority and thus more protection. Very rarely does anything happen as a result of those.
I've had one CW get a talking to because a customer's boyfriend felt that he was being too flirtatious with her. That's how he is and the boyfriend overreacted. Another older man who just retired had a number of complaints against him for being too brusque and somewhat rude to customers. Him and the two older guys who run registers had a no BS tolerance for some of the scams that customers would try.
