There's one really creepy SC who comes in sometimes two or three times a day. I don't like having him come through my lane because of how a 40 something white trash male looks at me (20something female). He also has a slight speech impediment so it sounds like he is leering at me. He's on food stamps but still somehow has money for a YMCA membership. He insists on everyone stapling his two receipts together, something I don't do because it's something that no one else demands and he's just too lazy to do it himself.

I was not having the best day yesterday. I worked 12 hours between the two jobs, retail and secretary. I just started at the office and went in at 9 am for a couple hours. I really didn't want to go to the retail job. It pays less for work that is far more physically demanding. I also had forgotten to take my allergy medication and it was very humid out.

I was not thrilled to see him come through my lane. He tries to make inane small talk with me when I'm in no mood to chat with him. I hand him his receipts and thank him for shopping. He then demands that I staple them and I try to pretend I didn't hear him. He asks what's wrong. I tell him that I'm not feeling well and my allergies are bothering me. He then asks if I am allergic to stapling things. I wanted to tell him that I am allergic to entitled white trash like yourself, but really didn't feel like getting fired. I staple it in the middle just to get his ugly ass face out my lane.

I find out today that I got an anonymous customer complaint about me because I was talking about a lesbian sex site. I am understandably appalled by this because I have a sense of decency. I tell my manager that the customer was lying and that it is false. I know the douchebag made it up to get back at me, because it sounded like something a middle aged man with issues towards women would say.

If I didn't care about keeping this job, I would confront him and call him out for what he is - a lazy, entitled white trash piece of shit male. I also wouldn't hesitate to spray mace or pepperspray at him if he ever threatens me again.

I'm surprised that I haven't gotten a complaint for denying the use of a fake Coke coupon. It was one of those that looked like it came out of the same template as the fake Doritos one and I had never seen the customer before. I called customer service for a supervisor asking if he had seen any of these coupons and if they were legit. My hunch was that it was faked and I was backed up after reading off the coupon over the phone. The customer's reaction confirmed that she knew it was fake. She just left and didn't protest at all. I hope she didn't try to scam another cashier or one of the other stores in town with it.

I feel that my employer takes customer complaints too seriously and at least half, if not more, are either made up or significantly exaggerated. Probably less than a fourth are real ones that merit serious action, but most of those are made against employees with more seniority and thus more protection. Very rarely does anything happen as a result of those.

I've had one CW get a talking to because a customer's boyfriend felt that he was being too flirtatious with her. That's how he is and the boyfriend overreacted. Another older man who just retired had a number of complaints against him for being too brusque and somewhat rude to customers. Him and the two older guys who run registers had a no BS tolerance for some of the scams that customers would try.

Yeah, I get lots of people asking if it is a long day because at 6am when I have been there for 7hrs I'm not cheery and one guy told me I need to be more positive and he is right I'm generally negative but um I'll try since he actually nice to me the multiple times a day he stops in, or how about we just leave it at hello and you don't say how its going because honestly I hate my job and has made me go from happy to depressed pushing on borderline suicidal.
I'm sorry reading is not a new concept it has been widely taught in our nation for at least the past 100 years. Please, learn to do it CORRECTLY before you become contagious.

Yes, but it's a bad show. The critics are legion, and there aren't enough people to play the role of 'workforce.'
That's because most everyone wants to be a "specialist" in something, even if they're job involes ordering toilet paper.

It's because corporations and stores should be hiring and keeping thrice as many people for every shift as they actually do.
Customers should always be served . . . to the nearest great white.

jester, you're the cherry and non-dairy whipped cream on an awesomesauce cake
Thank you. I think. I'm still not sure if this is a compliment, as I have not gotten the translation back from the department that handles that sort of thing.

Jester, as one of those vets you're talking about, I salute your legitimate outrage. Thank you.
You're welcome! And though I myself have never served in the military, I am the son of a veteran (who did not see action, being in peacetime Germany in the early Fifties) and the stepson of a veteran (who very much did see action in Korea in the same time period). When all that shit came to light, it was not just vets and military families that were outraged. Most of the people I know that followed that story were furious.

It's bad enough when the government screws us in all the ways it does. (Though I could, I won't get into specifics, as that is fratchingesque.) But when the government screws over the people who are serving them by getting shot at, it kinda makes the blood boil.

"Not happy enough." Fuck those people. Outrage, my ass.

Shit, I once got a complaint against me for being too happy. Or more correctly, for causing too much happiness in others. I was performing magic at a restaurant, and the this one table had declined my entertainment, which is fine. I am there to make people happy, and if I do so by walking away, I'm good with that. But then the next table decided to see the show, and we had a great time, and these two women were laughing their asses off. Which I'm also fine with, as that really is my job description. But the women at the first table took umbrage with this, and complained to my manager that I was making the second table "laugh too loudly," in essence spoiling their lunch.

Years later, I can still almost hear my manager's voice: "Ladies, Jester does his job very well and we are very happy with what he does. And we are not going to apologize for him making someone's day better. It's just not going to happen."

He said it very politely, but he was as in shock as I was that these dingbats were complaining about THAT.

Anyone else have someone "outraged" about something trivial that I can take a crack at? It's very therapeutic for me, these rants!
