Long post
Visitor parking was reserved for 2 events today, but there are no reserved spots for testing services. The full sign was on, & the big white sign stating Visitor Parking is closed for an event was in front of the 2 gates at the Visitor parking booth.
Female customer drives up to the booth window & tells me she is taking a placement test at testing services. Here is what happened.
me: "Hi, how may I help you?"
female customer: "I am going to testing services to take a placement test."
me: "I'm sorry, I understand you are here to take a test, but the lot is closed for 2 different events, & there are no reserved spots on the event list for testing services. & I have no parking spots for anyone to park in."
female customer *now has an attitude*: "So where do I park?"
I give her several options, & I raise the gate for her to exit, but she does not exit. Instead she pulls to the side to make a phone call.
She returns to the window & tells me testing services will call me. Since the Parking office is over Visitor Parking & is the client, I have been instructed that I can only accept phone calls from them. So I tell her that testing services has to call the parking office. Since there was a line of traffice behind her, I raise the gate for her to make a u-turn. But she does not exit. Instead she pulls over to the side, makes another phone call, & waits.
Then a couple of minutes later "Nancy" from the Parking office calls me to tell me she received complaints from people going to testing services that I am telling them there are no tests today. I tell her "no, I have been telling people going to testing services that the lot is blocked off for 2 different events & that there are no reserved spots for testing services, not that there are no tests today."
She returns to the booth window, & she still has an attitude. Here is what happened.
me: "Hi, how may I help you?"
female customer: "So where am I supposed to park for my test?"
me: "There is testing going on today, but because the lot is blocked off for 2 different events, & there are no reserved spots for testing services, you will have to find other parking either at..." I repeat to her the same options I told her earlier.
She looks annoyed, & says "so how do I get to the school?" I tell her she has to walk to the campus & enter through the main entrance. She then asks me where the main entrance is, & I give her that information.
She finally leaves.
One good thing happened today...
The guy who delivers chinese food to the campus brought me lunch today & made a delivery.
