OMG, neecy... I had a customer (Or rather, another cashier did, but I was about to take over his register) that had a cut like that! I forget if it was me or a customer behind him, but SOMEONE pointed out his hand was bleeding! There were blood puddles on the FLOOR from it, and on the counter... And then he LICKED his hand and acted like it was nothing I had to close the register and sanitize the floor AND counter before I'd open it back up, even after the blood was wiped up!
    Look, a signature!

If every cashier in the world went on strike, retail would come to a screeching halt, even if for a couple hours.

lick ewwww I'd never do that. I don't blame you for sanitizing everything - can't be too careful.

I absolutely hated those damn poles they had for opening/closing the shades when I worked at Aid Of Rite! There was an employee there who refused to do it...it was such a pain in the ass!!! My god they can't get electronic shutters...geezz

Sorry I disagree with you all re the paper/cardboard/plastic cuts. The worst cuts come from trying to catch a very sharp heavy chef's knife. And I have taken Foodsafe, various first aid courses and have worked in the food biz for years, you'd think I would know better. The worst part - I did this at home
I do that, too! Almost like a reflex. It's not like it's going to hurt the floor.

The cut that bleeds the most is the one you didn't know about! I remember working pricing at Crappy Tire many eons back, and we had a box full of glassware that had broken. I was carefully (or so I thought) removing the broken pieces, not realizing that I had sliced open my forearm until one of my coworkers started screaming. Odd thing was - it didn't hurt until I realized it was bleeding. I hadn't even felt the blood either - it was a hot summer and no AC in that warehouse.
I did that in Pharm Tech lab. We were opening glass ampoules and mine decided to shatter. I didn't realize that it had cut my hand until one of the guys said, "You're bleeding!"

Before then, I didn't know it was possible to cut one's finger on the edge of a cardboard box.
Yes, I found out the hard way that it's quite possible.

Aluminum Foil cuts. Even worse if you catch it between your thumb and index finger. You know that small loose peice of skin.
Take this job and shove it. I ain't workin here no more.

Try sliced finger ala Ciggy Carton! Those boxes have a very sharp cardstock edge, and they take weeks to heal.
Oh yes, done that PLENTY times. One good thing about working in a pharmacy is that I had an entire first aid kit at my disposal, both under the counter and in the aisle.

Too poor to afford automatic shutters + bigger payroll, but not poor enough to afford to replace cash registers and update them with fancy biometric scanners, not to mention this whole "Healthiness +" card which gives people discounts so the place is losing more money.

Cardboard cuts are Teh Evil, especially when it's underneath a fingernail. Working at the fabric store, I've cut myself on those cardboard cores of fabric bolts more times than I care to relate...yet I've never hurt myself with the sharp scissors. Go figure.

(And of course, now that I've said that, we all know that I'm likely to slice myself open with the scissors now...!)

Cardboard cuts hurt like blazes when I get them. Or at least when I'm aware I cut myself. I get those big bleeder injuries too, and then look down to see that my fingertip is covered in blood or something.

The worst bleeder I ever got was the time I accidentally jabbed myself with my butterfly knife while attempting to open a DVD at home. I believe my running commentary went, "Oh shit, I jabbed myself. Oh shit, I'm bleeding. Oh SHIT, I'm really bleeding!" and rushed to the bathroom to wash off the cut and bandage it.
