  • Didn't See This Coming

I was ringing a couples items earlier. All is well until I get to the corn, and jokingly say "I guess the corn doesn't like me very much", and the lady goes "Well at least somebody is willing to admit they don't like you". And inside I'm thinking WTF, I didn't even do anything to you lady. I'm just like "Ok" (kind of long sounding). I stopped being overly friendly at that point, and just went down to being polite. Fortuanetly, I didn't actually take what she said to heart to much, and I didn't let it ruin my day..

"Too bad no one does the same for you, ma'am." **big polite grin** "Your total is X. Thank you and have a WONDERFUL day!"

Sometimes killing them with kindness is more apt to do something in a situation like that than anything. Good for you for being able to shrug it off and move on!

She shouldn't make comments like that when her ass is in range and you're holding corn.

What is wrong with some people's kids??? Seriously, who would say that to a complete stranger!

I'm hoping the corn doesn't like her after she eats it and somehow spontaniously grows poisoned thorns while passing through her rectum.

Her comment was totally rude but I'm wondering if she meant it in a joking manner too and it just went horribly wrong? I do that sometimes.

I also cant help but think/hope it was a joke. Maybe it was too dry for you to laugh about. But you would know better than us. Don't let someones douche waste get the best of you.

That's why I refuse to interact too much with customers. I remain pleasant for as long as it takes to complete the transaction. I will only joke around if I see the person has a sense of humor, otherwise you never know how your comments might get misconstrued.

Anyway, this lady had no right saying that to someone she doesn't even know.

                    That is terrible.

I'm also willing to entertain the idea that it was a joke gone wrong -- it's the sort of thing that would be much funnier and less insulting if it were done as a self-deprecating joke; e.g., if you had done it instead of her.

That's just terrible. I can believe she said that. What a total reversed Queen of Swords.
