  • It was a bad night all around.

Sorry about the length I just need to rant abit.

So the company I work for owns several hotels and restaurants in my town, which is nice because it I need extra hours I can ask to be trained at another hotel. Right now I am working at 3 hotels 3rd shift.

Last week I was working at the E-L and I knew it was going to be a bad night right from the start, I did not get enough sleep. Right off the bat I had 2 people ask for cots. normally this would not be a problem but I had not worked at E-L for several months after my training and had no idea where most things were. I had guests who were mad because 1st shift moved them to a different room but did not change it on the computer and of course I sent some people down to look at the room that as ocupied

Sc: Umm what is going on

Me: I am sorry. Can I have your last name.

    SC: Why?

Me: My system does not show anyone in that room it is probably just a computer error that i can fix.

SC: They moved me this morning.

Me: I understand that but the computer must not have recorded the switch. Could I have you last name and I can correct the error.

SC: its Blank. And why did some one try come in my room?

Me: I am sorry about that but the room you are currently in was marked as vacant because the computer did not record your room switch but I have taken care of it.

SC: THAT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH! *click

What how is it not good enough. After this I try to calm down some

Then at about 3am (I remember the time because that is when I began my audit) I have to swat a bug off my arm. I then look up and see on or two bugs flying around the light and think "some one left a window open or something" then look down at the desk and see like 25 flying ants on the counter. Now this might not sound like a big deal but for some reason I am scared of flying bugs. Its not a phobia but I hate being around them. After a bit I kill them all, taking out a bit of frustration as well, thinking it was over but it was not over. not 1 min the first wave but more just start coming from nowhere, I start freaking out and figure I will just get the audit done and sit in the back until I can go home or a guest comes to the counter. But I had to call tec support twice and the system dragged. I usually get done with the audit at 3:30-4:00am, by the time I was done with the audit that night it was 6:00am and all the while I am trying to get bugs out of my hair and clothing and trying not to freak out. Magically at 7 they all leave.

To top off the night I got a call from a frequent stayer that went like this.

FSC: I need a reservation for tonight.
Me: Ok what type of room are you looking for?
FSC: I usually get a king size bed. My name is Mr. Ass
Me: I do have that available my rate is 84.99
FSC: NO I have a company rate I stay there all the time.
Me: What is the name of your com....

I talk to myself too sometimes, but usually not when I'm on the phone trying to make a hotel reservation
