  • Take care of your dog.

B/G I work at a hotel that is connected to an indoor water park and two other hotels. All owned by the same guy.

I don't know if this should go here or cursing out coworkers. About 30 min into my shift I get a call from one of the hotels I am connected to.

    me
    Other hotel worker: ohw

    me: thank you for call

ohw: Hey Hellzar its me from other hotel. Do you like dogs.

me: *thinking she looking for a pet friendly room for a guest* Yes I do but we are sold out for the night

ohw:No we found a dog wandering in our hallways could you watch it tonight. The night auditor does not want to do it. and I can get a hold of the owner or animal control.

    me: umm yea I guess.

Ohw comes over and brings a full grown female pitbull asking "Are you the dog owner?" I told him no I just agreed to watch it tonight. The dog was friendly, fat she wanted to sit up at the front desk with me and look out the window crying. I think the night auditor at the other hotel did not want to deal with a pit bull. The owners came in for the dog at 1am. They were really confused as to why their dog was brought to a different hotel. They thanked me but I was kind of hoping for a dollar. lol. I just wonder how they did not notice their dog missing for an hour and a half or why they did not make sure she was safe in the room.

We had a little puppy sneak out of a guest's room. It was adorable, but it sh*t all over the place (cuteness made up for it tho). They either didn't notice it was missing until morning, or didn't think to check with the desk. I'd hung up signs around the property saying that we'd found the puppy, and they had seen a sign and come to pick her up.

Of course, if they'd registered their pet at check-in like they're supposed to, I could have returned the puppy sooner. I'd called every guest who'd registered a pet. The puppy owners weren't one of them.

This is why I tell every one of my clients that travel with their pet, microchip AND separate tag with their cell phone numbers. If you are out of town your home address doesn't really help.

Actually there is a client who stays at the same hotel in town multiple times a year I had cute tags made up for the dog, with their cell numbers and the hotel's number. The hotel staff all know and love the dog. Doesn't hurt to have an extra number for emergencies.

As far as not registering it at the hotel, If you want your dog back people need to know you have it, and know where to return it to. You never know if the dog might wander or escape, it might not do it at home but this isn't home.

I hope the owners got hit with the pet deposit for their rooms. If they hadn't registered their dog then they were probably trying to get away with not paying it... and causing problems for the next visitors who may have dog allergies. They were probably also worried that they'd be turned away because the dog was a pit. The breed can be super sweet, but too many dog owners are irresponsible even with breeds that aren't bred for fighting: irresponsible owners make for dangerous dogs.

I must be rather tired, I read this and for some reason all I could think was
"You work on a monopoly game board?"
"On a scale of 1 to banana, whats your favourite colour of the alphabet?"

This pisses me off so much. Even if you're in a place where there are no breed bans, where it's legal to own a pit bull, and even if the dog is a big friendly suck like this one, animal shelters will euthanize them as 'unadoptable' outright without even looking for the owner. Imagine if the owners couldn't be found and animal control or the SPCA had to be called -- that's what would have happened.

(Can you tell I'm a pit fan in a place where they're banned? And this one sounds just like all the pits I've ever met -- alternating between licking your hands and whining for Daddy or Mommy to come back.)

I've always said that a vicious dog is made, not born. Sure some breeds have certain characteristics (like German Shepherds love to guard) but it's down to the way they're handled.
Rottweilers have had a bad press in the UK, but I never met one that wasn't a complete la-la.

All the Rottweilers I've run into have been big babies and attention whores.

My favorite was the dog of a coworker. He'd bring her to work sometimes if he was just stopping in for a minute and the dog would urinate on the hotel. Good doggy, that's how we all feel.

My karate teachers had an overweight rottie who was a great big suck. She thought she was a lapdog. If anyone sat on the floor (in the lobby, not the dojo, and not in seiza) they'd have 130 pounds of fat, drooling, farting Rottweiler on top of them.

*looks down at the two german shepherds at my feet*

The male is a total momma's boy and loves the ladies. He also thinks he's a lap dog. The female likes to talk back and is a daddy's girl. Both are terrified of thunderstorms. I have had/fostered many pitties and they have all been the most lovable things ever.

You can tell what my opinion is of the so-called "dangerous breeds" is.

However, that owner needs to be smacked for not registering the dog. IMO your furkids should be treated similarly to your humankids (of course after seeing some of the stuff on this board, that may not be saying much about some people)

I think that the owners did register their dog but could not be reached because they were out and about.

                          I need coffee!

I haven't heard the term "pibble" before. So as I was Googling it, I was trying in my head figure out which mixed breed it was a combo name for.

"Poodle+?" was about all the time I had to come up with as the Google page loaded and right there, in the description under the first link, was the answer!

Now it seems so obvious! But, in my defense, the two posts above this one of mine were the most recent since I last visited this thread yesterday, so "Pit Bull" wasn't fresh in my mind.
