You are correct, all credit cards are 16 digits (even most store cards) with the exception of American Express which is the one company that has to be different just for the sake of being really fracking annoying.
Actually, Visa was always 13 OR 16 (20 yrs call center exp). And BTW if you are blaming card companies for being different, it isn't AMEX you should blame. They were in business before MC and Visa ect. Amex 1956, Visa 1958, MC 1966 or so.

Every credit card I've ever had has had 16 digits, plus the 3-digit security code on the back.
Amex also doesn't have a 3 digit code

Well, Visa was called BankAmericard back then.

No, they have a 4-digit code, which is on the front. I just realized that if you add that to their 15 digits you get 19, which is the same as Visa/MC's 16 plus 3. Never noticed that before.

Pikiwedia has a list of some of the common prefixes.

I'd be willing to bet that he wasn't seeing the last 4 numbers since a lot of them are printed on the hologram....in white.

And if he did see it and realize it, he was too much of a douche to fess up that, whoops, there they are.

Of course, if he did, SHW wouldn't have been able to ruin his vaca.
