Where I live, the law requires fences around pools and a pool alarm, but they also stress that you have to watch your kids! Having an alarm doesn't keep them from falling in, and if you're not around to respond to the alarm, they can still drown.

I can't believe that guy wanted you to put up NEW FENCES...in one day, I assume...at your expense...while he waited. No contractor anywhere would even come out the same day to give you an estimate!

I, too, want to know what happened afterward.
