    If the room was empty at the time, letting him in would have proved nothing, anyway. He probably would have blamed you for "letting the kidnapper leave with my daughter." I'm starting to see why the kid ran away!

        Of course, that also opens the can of worms of him being a scammer (potentially) and is just trying to get into a room to steal stuff.

          Or the child running away for a valid reason, such as trying to escape her father?

          I don't have kids, but I know myself. If I ever lost a kid, the police are the first people I'd call. Well. my mother first to make sure the kid wasn't with her, and then the police.
          Customers should always be served . . . to the nearest great white.
