Ah,I get this all the time in the land of games. Alas,I can't even pretend to be manager for a day to do such delicious and excellent PWnage. However,I do have awesome manager that does that sort of thing for me,I just get to watch.

This reminds me of something that happened a few months ago. A clearance item rang up cheaper then what the clearance sticker had on it, by around half off. Customer then asks why it rang up that much cheaper, it should have been $XX if they were going by the clearance sticker.

FES who was helping the cashier with the problem turned back to the cashier and said something along the lines of "Override it back to $XX", then walked off. Cashier did so, smiled at the Customer, and gave the total. I think the friend who was with the Customer said to keep their mouth shut next time, don't remember if the item was bought by them or not.
Eh, one day I'll have something useful here. Until then, have a cookie or two.

Unless the customer was using That Tone of Voicetm then that's just a customer being honest. Getting a surprise discount is sweet, but good customers don't try to rip off the store just because something rings up wrong.

            Remember, Kinkoid. It's the PRINCIPLE...

            <GAGS!!!>

And I think that was his opening bid, because he did try to pull a fast one and get me to agree to $150..
Not to mention the bragging rights to all his buddies, and then it'd snowball as you'd have more idiots like this trying the same thing and using the line "Well, you did it for so-and-so . . ."

Beautiful pwnage there . . . wish it were on YouTube.

Doesn't it worry anybody this is a college student who's supposed to be bright enough to know better?

Any bets he'll wait until the last minute, decide he's going to have to pay full price, then head out to buy a copy only to find out they're all gone?

You seem to have forgotten what site you're on. This attitude is par for the course.

Smart book shoppers check the campus bookstore, the local used bookstores, and the internet and order what they need without wasting a lot of time haggling (or at least haggle correctly). Wasting time gives other people the chance to buy the cheap books out from under you.

                  To coin a phrase?
To get it out of the way:
Franc, the guard, Marks you with his glare. You suspect he would give no Quarter in a fight. He would likely Pound you into Ruble.

I love that reference. *cries briefly*
                  Love it!

Juwl making puns. Some things never change. Still, I think Euro-ver the top, so get Riyal and stop before you get a Yen for other penny-ante games.

$155... $150... $140...... All the while making it sound like you're just so extra-special for helping him do you a favor by taking the book off your hands. In the end you would be willing to pay him to take it just to shut him up.
I guess that a fair offer would have been to sell the book for the price he desires and rip off a number of pages equal to the percentage of the discount.

You should have been really evil and offered to match the more expensive price at the other bookstore.
....and then lower it by one dollar....
