Most of this happened before my shift yesterday (thankfully). We had a couple of real star SCs at the motel.
Guns
Housekeeping went into a stayover room. They noted that there was no luggage in the room, and a handgun beneath a pillow. That seemed odd, so Boss Man called Hot Cop (
) to check it out.
I later got a phone call from the woman who paid for the room. She'd paid for her granddaughter and granddaughter's boyfriend. She apologized profusely for the gun. They'd left for another town, which explained the lack of luggage.
I told her that it wasn't a problem for a guest to have a gun, they just need to let us know so housekeeping doesn't stumble across it like that, and we were just erring on the side of caution by calling the police since it seemed odd that there was a gun and no luggage. That's when the woman said it was a problem...granddaughter's BF had purchased the gun through some illicit means.
Car Prowls
So we had a family staying in one of the rooms. The dad decided to bust out a car window in the restaurant parking lot next door. He got arrested. We also learned from the police that the older child (no older than 13) already had a rap sheet. So it's a real all-star family we've got here. We decide we don't want them staying with us, so we kick them out.
Checkout is at noon. At 3pm, they're all gone, but they have practically a houseload of stuff in the room. CW calls me...on his way home he saw the mother checking into another hotel up the street, and wanted that hotel's number so he could warn them.
After I'm done with CW, a manager from the restaurant comes over. She doesn't say anything, she just slaps a check for $56 down on my desk. It's from the mom in the stellar family we kicked out. The restaurant manager doesn't have to tell me the check bounced. I tell her we kicked that guest out and where she can track the family down at the other hotel.
Housekeeping goes up to pack up all their crap, and the two kids have somehow ended back up in the room. They aren't packing...they're moving things around but not really doing anything. I call Boss Man...he gets transferred to the room and tells them the police are on their way to kick them out. Suddenly, Mom appears with a shopping cart. Their stuff is loaded up, and they're off to terrorize another hotel. It was about 4:30pm before they finally left.
They clogged up the sink something awful in that room, so we couldn't rerent the room. We could have sold out last night if it weren't for that sink.
