We get people that will just leave bags of trash in our parking lots. We do have several dumpsters for construction that's going on, and I'll catch people throwing household trash in there. They always exclaim 'Oh, I thought it was for the public!' ummm, no, would you go to someone's house and dump your trash in their bin...Woops, I'm on SC.com, of COURSE they would! I make them take the garbage right back out

But it's when they leave the trash sitting in their parking spot that I'm stumped; these are probably the same people who complain how dirty our lots are!

I think for a lot of people that the gas station = evil big oil company. So they figure, f*ck 'em, they can afford it.
If they only knew the truth.

Running a gas station doesn't make much money.

So, um....has anyone ever read a post on CS and realized you do the very same thing?

I don't think I have cleaned out an entire car while my gas was pumping, but I've disposed of MANY large pieces of trash.

Now I can see how shitty this was for me to do. Ugh.

I'll never do that again. I'm embarassed.

Yes, actually. When I discovered I was a poor tipper rather than a nice person.

Don't worry, I'm right there with ya....I think I'm guilty of half of the things on the list

I am a fast food junkie (i know...i know...but really me cooking = someone gets injured) and in my car ALOT so I tend to have a lot of wrappers and what not. Since I fill up my tank about every 1-2 weeks I use that time while I'm waiting to clean it out. Yes, sometimes it takes 2 or 3 trips I know I'm messy...

As far as the diaper issue goes...sorry I have to disagree with it. If I'm going to change my baby in the car (not ever my first choice since I have a tiny car but sometimes it's my only clean option) I'm not going to leave it with me when there's a trash can right there. Yes I do make sure to bundle it up so it doesn't break apart and if I have a bag available I'll put it in there. If not, then it going to get tossed. My car is messy enough thank you....I don't need to add Poo!

Speaking from another gas station point of view, I would rather the stinky diapers be in the outside trash than the inside trash. Just sayin'. I've never found anything too strange in our inside trashcans, about the grossest thing is the poopy diapers (our bathroom cans are simply not sturdy enough for several of these).

So hey, feel free to change the baby in the car!

They can't even afford real trash bags >_<

Posting in this thread again because I'll admit I use the trashcans at public locations (gas stations, mall parking garages, etc.) to empty out the trash in my car.

Truth be told, I don't usually have so much trash as just junk that I store in my car instead of taking it inside. Old magazines, comic books (and TPBs), books, etc. There's a reason I can't transport stuff in my trunk right now... it's where I store all that junk.

Ugh, we get customers that do this ALL the time. I stand there and watch as they are trying to shove these huge bags full of trash into the trash can opening. If it doesn't fit they just leave it there on top of the trash can.

I have discovered that doing so leaves the garbage bag stuck in the trash can, so you have to take the entire thing to the dump when you dump trash >_<
