I walked through the place a couple of times, and honestly could not find anything of interest. I tried, but all there was was a wall of Inu Yashas, Sephiroths and Miku Hatsunes looking back at me. They may have been there, but they were buried in the weeds of print
Hey now, no slamming on Miku!

Did they have any Touhou stuff?

This is one of the things I love about D*C.

Artists Alley is full of ARTISTS. In addition to our own Jennie Breeden, there's Gina Biggs, a bunch of other webcomic artists, and David Mack.

Mack was doing things RIGHT. He had his comics, he had his prints, but he was also doing quick sketches, and when I bought the new Kabuki book, he handed me *two* others that had just come out that I didn't have yet. All this while talking to a ton of people and generally being a very nice person.

Suggestion for the future: Rather than let people look through the books, have a binder with individual pages in clear sheaths. That way you can have only a few pages (maybe half the book, with a cliffhanger) so people get really into it. That way they buy the book and you don't have mooches.

I'm a hopeless AA addict. Whenever my local con rolls around, I end up dropping more cash in the AA than the dealer's room, simply because the stuff is unique and one-of-a-kind. I can get some of the stuff in the dealer's room on eBay for a fraction of the cost.

Last con I easily dropped $120 in the AA, on two keychains made from Sculpey, a crocheted Pokeball (hush, it went with my costume for next year) and two crocheted Pokemon, two conbadges fromVG Cats (one of 'em is signed by the creator), and a custom plushie commission.

My friend and I are thinking of getting a table next year to sell artwork and cosplay props, but we're still working out the details and kinks.

The ONLY site in the Artists Alley that I remember not having a distinct anime flavour to it at AVcon, was the booth run by a friend of the boyfriend.

His main theme however was original manga-style drawings, along with some fantasy ones. So he did some designs with a LOTR theme, some with a Neverwinter Nights theme and so on. The best part was he did original portraits AND pre-drawn designs where you he'd draw your face.
He was VERY popular during AvCon.
