I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

Quoth XCashier View PostEverybody who speaks has an accent. We don't hear our own accents because everyone in our neighborhood speaks the same way we do, but they're there. It's just the way speech works; you'd have to talk in a complete monotone not to have one (and I suppose even "monotone" could be considered an accent of sorts)."Good morning, and in case I don't see ya, good afternoon, good evening, and good night!" - The Truman Show

In high school, my teacher told us that Michigan people have the most desirable accent because it's neutral. I don't know if it's true but it sure makes me feel better about how I talk.
And for the racism, some people have to find a reason to hate, even if they make it up.Oh wook at teh widdle babeh dwaggin! How cyuuute babeh dwag-AAAAAAAUUUGGGHHHH! *nom*

I used to go out of my way to supress my accent. It's not one most people think of as an intelligent accent. They make uncool judgement calls on people with this accent. So I would go to someplace like Pennsic, which has folks from all over the world there, and supress the heck of it.
Then I just decided "screw it, this is who I am. Anybody don't like it can get bent." And to my suprise, people were all like "You have a pretty accent, where are youi from?"
I understand Josh Holloway, who has a similar accent to mine (not exactly, but close enough. I believe he's from Georgia, which is only a couple hours drive from here) did the same thing for the same reason. Then he got cast for Lost and they were all like "Oh, use your natural accent, it rocks."
