do they keep records of these sorts of things; both child and parent?

that way, if she comes back with threats over junior's failure in school, she has no grounds for legal (or any other type of) action?

i'm betting junior's already started his path to criminal land; with the behavior he's shown already, i'm betting it starts with fighting or bullying before theft.
    look! it's ghengis khan!
Sorry, but while I can do many things, extracting heads from anuses isn't one of them. (so sayeth the irv)

Ok guys, this is a really cool thread - but lets try to keep it on track and focus on the sucky behavior of the mother, and not about what 'should have' been done, etc.

      Thanks!

Oh god, I can't believe I only just thought of this now.

Now, if anyone ever says that mom is a nice woman, you can tell them she's phone-y baloney.

I know this feeling. You would rather have the wrath of Gord then face the folks after this when I was growing up. I would be lucky just not to see the light of day for awhile...
This. I got detention a couple times in 6th grade for stupid stuff. I didn't care so much about what the school did, but fark, I was terrified of what my mother was going to do when I got home.

There is a little bit of an update to this story involving the school boy, but I am not going to post it on here. It would make the thread too messy and it would end up in fratching.

All I am going to say is that there was a meeting with the young boy today, and after that meeting, they have concluded that the mother has brought this boy up with the belief that he can do no wrong. Ever.

That poor boy is in for a shock.

But like I said, I am going to leave the thread with that.

Had a roommate like that. Literally. She even said to me once "I'm just not ever really wrong. Even when arguing with my parents, they always come back and say that I was right."

I don't know if I ever posted that I ended up beating the shit out of one of my room mates at about three am back in the bad old days.

Yeah. Maybe not my proudest moment. But it was the room mate who "was not ever really wrong."( I would submit that her shoving me into a wall when I was already at war with the violent side of my temper concerning her would probably fall into the definition of "wrong choice on her part", but I digress.) Her life was a parade of clusterfucks, one after the other, and when I saw her years down the line, it still was. I actually felt sorry for her by that point. So the attitude that she was never wrong did not serve her well.

Her excuse for not paying her bills (not why the fight happened) was that she didn't have the money for it and we (me and the other roommate) should understand that if she gave us the rent, she'd be left short and hurting for money. The sad part is that she truly, honestly, could not understand why we would not be okay with that.

I mean, folks, this is the crucible in which Entitlement Whores are forged.

Can you post the update on Fratching? Your synopsis has made me curious. That kid is indeed in for a rude awakening.
I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

The problem is that she IS raising her kids with her idea of common courtesy...
Exactly. Everybody needs to show courtesy to HER...

                  ==============================

I can't really blame the DH for giving it back after telling her to GTFO. If he had kept it, he could have opened up the school to a legal liability it could not afford to defend against. If it had been entirely his choice, it might have turned out differently. For the kid's sake, I hope he gets a (non-violent) lesson about his behavior, and soon -- one good enough so that he can see what sort of person his Mom is >_>

Actually the policy seems very lenient.
I know that a school I was teaching at established that any student caught texting (or surfing the web, or playing games, or whatever) with their mobile phone got it confiscated and that it would be given back ONLY TO A PARENT and IN THE PRESENCE OF THE STUDENT (even if they were over 18) by the headmaster or one of his two assistants.
