  • I said stay the !@*&%#! away from our Dumpsters!!!

It's that time of year for phonebook recycling. We have a big RED dumpster with a BIG red sign that says "phone book recycling here." We have signs on either end of the road POINTING to said recycling dumpster. Keyword here... RECYCLING.

I went-out to throw into the dumpster all the phone books that lazy people had been too..well, lazy to throw over the side of the container. What do I find lying there?

    Guess??? Anyone???

3-large contractor-size garbage bags of OLD ROOFING TILES.

They were so heavy I couldn't lift them into the security vehicle, so I had to call Maintenance to get them.

We get this crap all the time where I work.
I even went out and bought NO DUMPING signs and put them up. They are all gone now and losers are still putting their trash in and around our dumpster.

If it has papers in it that may contain an address we toss them into the alley then call the police and tell them someone dumped trash in the alley. Years ago we had a man come back after the police tracked him down and fined him. He was pissed because we called the police. My boss asked him if he paid for the dumpster. He said no and my boss told him then he had no permission to dump his trash in it and to go get his own or take it to the dump and pay to get rid of it. He cussed and moaned then left.

Our business is right next to an apartment building. We've had to take to chaining and padlocking our dumpsters to keep them from being filled to overflowing with apartment dwellers crap.

At the army base I work for during the summer, the people in our building have basically forced all the smokers (three of us) to move as far away from the building as possible...right next to the dumpsters across the parking lot. Well I and one of the other smokers are two of the first people that get there every morning. Nothing like standing in the rain, looking across to a smoke shack that we can't use because a couple of nutbags swear they can smell us smoking through the walls or something. Its ridiculous. Its not even attached or that close to the building...well within the regs. But no...they had to listen to one lady and force us to be miserable like her I guess.

Well fast forward to a few weeks later but who do I catch dumping a bunch of building material into our dumpster...the annoying bitch. I start laughing and tell her that if she thinks for a moment the army is going to let this fly, she is on crack. Not one hour later, an email goes out telling our building that basically a guard is going to be posted until the person or persons come forward and pick their shit up. Until then, trash remains on station.

I gave the women one day to come forward...except the command got her first. Seems she neglected to get all her personal information removed before her illegal dumping.

She ends up tracking me down in the building, trying to start shit with me about it the next day about how "Someone nearly got me fired..." and how "people should throw stones in glass houses". I pretty much just laughed at her until my boss told her to go away.

I found out later after I went back to school she got caught AGAIN, this time on video, dumping parts of an old fence into one of the bases burn dumpsters (basically an over sized, high security bin for just shredded documents). Yeah, she couldn't beg her way out of that because not only was she illegally dumping, technically she was fucking around with security shit. From what I understand, she basically chucked an 8 year job into the shitter because she was too damn lazy to just get rid of her shit properly.

I just don't get why people use random dumpsters. Yeah it is a pain to have to dump my trash but it really isn't much more of a pain to dump it a bit farther away and I sure as hell don't want to have to deal with getting any fines or anything.

Heh - the apothecary next to us had someone dumping their gear after a house clearance in his (paid for) bin. They'd left plenty of envelopes in it.

Next day, they woke up to find it on their lawn and drive.

Because people are cheap & lazy. My family lives in a town where you have to pay for garbage removal. One sis is on a tight income and sometimes goes without trash service for a few months because she can't pay her bills. Suddenly she's loading up her car and secretly dumping at fast-food restaurants and the other family member's apt building. *sigh*

Because they can't plan ahead, and during the major move in/move out weeks (we have more leases expiring in April and August, and December, because it's a university town) they need to throw out their garbage OMG NOW. And if *surprise surprise* the dumpster is full because everyone else was using it from moving out, well it's their right to go use somewhere else.

maybe they should put a lock on the dumpster and have a slot wide enough for a phonebook?

they might be able to fit some things through a slot, but it would limit the larger items, at least.

isn't using a dumpster someone else pays for considered 'theft of services?'
                  look! it's ghengis khan!
Sorry, but while I can do many things, extracting heads from anuses isn't one of them. (so sayeth the irv)

We don't really have that problem oddly enough. The only ones to abuse the dumpster is the boss who clears out houses he buys or a coworker who takes his clippings to it.

One of my worst personal sins that I headdesk for even now is going on a week-long camping trip with my sister and her husband, failing to have any form of payment to use the local dump for our numerous trash bags of waste, and ending up leaving them beside a trashcan at a road-side viewpoint when the car started to stink from having the bags tucked between our legs.

Worst experience with receiving dumping was when my family discovered that someone had been bring a DUMP TRUCK onto our 26-acre property to unload loads of crap into a small ravine part-way up our half-mile long driveway. There was tons of junk down there by the time we discovered it and couldn't do a thing about it other than keep watch for any further dump truck action. Sadly, we never caught them.

Am I the only one old enough to have scenes from "Alices Restaurant" going thru my head while reading this thread?

I hate people who fill our trashcans at work with their shit, especially those lazy assholes who leave all their trash around the EMPTY trashcan next to the vacuum cleaner. I can see throwing out of a few empty bottles or fast food bags when you stop to get gas but when your doing your semi-annual mobile dumpster cleaning, do it at home or somewhere that doesn't over fill my trash cans, and honestly I wouldn't care about the 50lb drive axle you bought at autozone and replaced in our parking lot being tossed in the dumpster but hiding it in a trash can that the bag rips when i try to lift it not knowing about the present that is just annoying.
I'm sorry reading is not a new concept it has been widely taught in our nation for at least the past 100 years. Please, learn to do it CORRECTLY before you become contagious.

Just yesterday, I looked to see if the recycling had been picked up (it was trash day) and saw that one of my lovely neighbors decided to cheap out on paying for recycling and used our bin for his stuff. There was a ton of shredded paper in there. The only problem is, it was a strip shredder - we have a confetti shredder.

If I see it happen again, I'm not above digging it out and putting it back together to figure out who keeps dumping stuff in our bin.

We had someone use our apartment's dumpster (not the one I use, but the one across from my patio where I smoke cigarettes.) late at night and throw out a whole bedroom set. I saw them do it but it was dark out and I couldn't tell if they lived there or not.

Sure enough, a letter got posted on every door in the complex not to throw out large items like that. I wish I would've gotten their tag numbers when I realized they didn't live there... Stupid nighttime.
