I would have finished the first one the moment she told me to shut up. I would have voided her transaction, removed her stuff from the counter, and told her to leave. She can decide whether to leave on her own or with the police.
As for the second one, I think those types should be treated the same as panhandlers. After all, they're essentially begging for a handout. Customers should have a general idea of what they can afford before they ever even walk into the store. I mean, I plan ahead and generally know what I can afford before I even go shopping.
There is no excuse for either behavior, and my tolerance for such rudeness and stupidity declines with every work day. Sorry, I think I was starting to rant at some of my own customers again.
