I got one of the zappers this summer, as soon as I picked it up to deal with a fly, they all went into hiding!
Who told them what it was for?

Having witnessed this effect first hand, I think they're scared off by the buzz when you press the button. It makes an audible hum, and if you've got sensetive skin, you can feel it from close up when it's juiced.

The best deal is to never press the button in except when actively swinging for something.

Must admit, I don't find it easy to use, it has a failsafe button that has to be held it while the switch is on for it to work...my thumb usually rebels if I hold it for more than 30 secs

My personal favorite was one I saw at a bar.....it had been gone over several times in pen...nail polish...lipstick....then it was carved in that this girl was a "Whore!!!!"
