I used to get the "are you a person" thing all the time, too. Finally was advised by a supervisor, after she reviewed a call where the customer asked that, that I spoke too perfectly and I should try talking less clearly and with less than perfect grammar.

..AND if you didn't speak clearly with perfect grammar then you'd be written up. Can't win either way.

I was thinking whatever country the call-centre is in, just to give the callers a chance. On the other hand, Luxembourg is nice. Third option, if you are really cruel, is to take Belgium, if they manage to do it in Dutch, you can always say that it was supposed to be in French and visa versa.

I get people thinking I'm a recording all of the time. It doesn't bother me at all. In fact I get a kick out of it . I've even had people who know me tell me that. I normally talk realllly fast, so that when I talk on the phone I slow down and tend to lower my voice. This combined with saying the greeting so often that I probably do it in my sleep equals recording.
I've also been told that I give great phone voice and should do phone sex. If my husband wasn't the jealous type it would be a great way to make money.
