ugh. My dad does that, too. Drives me batty.
Ah, yes. I remember the first time my parents used their debit card to pay at the pump like it was a month ago..
Oh. Wait. It was.
Snicker.....wow using the debit card for the first time in 2010.....that's amazing.
As for the calling DVD's tapes thing that would drive me up a freakin wall.....I really hate it when people don't call stuff by it's proper name. That's something else my mom would do...call everything by a dumbass name instead of the correct one.
I've had a debit card since I've had a checking account because I prefer to never have cash on my person, well, more than enough for an emergency (like needing cab fare) or lunch money for work.
What's amazing about it? I've never used a debit card, and I'm very up on technology. I love the float that credit cards provide.
my bf is the opposite everything has to be a debit....he hates credit transactions, I suspect because he never writes anything down in a register like you're supposed to.
So do you not have any kind of credit/debit type card attached to a bank account that you use? And how on earth do you get cash for anything.....I use my debit card all time ....like Blas I don't usually have cash on me so there you go.
There are all kinds of re-loadable debit cards you can get at Wal-Mart for instance that don't require any kind of bank account. You just load money onto it.
Some people simply aren't comfortable with it, or don't see why, if the "outdated" method or item still works, why change? My grandparents were like that. As long as something still worked, my grandfather couldn't see spending the money for a replacement. Things were only 'upgraded' when they wore out. Also, just because something is newer, doesn't necessarily mean that it's better

Also, just because something is newer, doesn't necessarily mean that it's better
Well, that at least is true.
I'm fortunate. My mother and aunt love tech and rarely have to be taught anything more than a couple of times before they get it.

Faith is about what you do. It's about aspiring to be better and nobler and kinder than you are. It's about making sacrifices for the good of others. - Dresden
Some people it's not that they don't WANT to move with technology, it's that technology refuses to move with THEM.
My Mom, bless her heart, gets frustrated when her computer doesn't work the way she thinks it should. When I tell her point blank "it doesn't work that way," she just sort of sets her jaw and mutters, "Well it SHOULD."
This on top of her being a Walking Techbane frustrates me to no end when I do tech support for her.

My mom still calls technical college "Vocational school" or "Vo-tech"
Um... I call it vocational school, too. And I'm 30.
