  • She's the reason Santa's not real

I work as a slide attendant in a crappy popular waterpark and it was spring break when this particular incident happened, so we are very busy. There are strict height restrictions for all our bigger slides. This guy and his tiny daughter come up to ride a tube slide; I know she's not 42 inches just by looking at her but I humor him by politely saying we need to measure all children that don't come up to the railing. He's fine with this but yells to his daughter as I take her over to the measurement sigh "Stand up nice and tall sweety. Tiptoes if you have to."

I tell the girl to stand with feet flat on the ground and her head straight, she doesn't even come close to the line. I walk her back and politely explain that she's a bit small but there is a great kiddie area for smaller childen.

The guys looses it at this point trying to argue "aw come on just this once. No one will know." Yeah sure you and all the others with small kids. I tell him that rules are rules and I'm sorry. He starts screaming that the place is bullshit. Then he chucks the tube at me, picks up his daughter and tells her "See this mean lady, she's the reason Santa's not real and won't be coming this Christmas."

At this point the kid starts bawling and the guy just screams, "Look, you made her cry."

Yeah except she wasn't crying until he mentioned the Santa thing. Nice parenting buddy. I'm surprised I kept my cool and didn't get sarcastic.

    Some people are just insane.

I wonder if he tells her that he drinks because she cries.

Something else that's sad, daddy dearest won't remember that comment two seconds from now. Yet this will be a remark that the girl is going to remember for a very long time. Trust me, I remember a few stingers from my own childhood.
A lion however, will only devour your corpse, whereas an SC is not sated until they have destroyed your soul. (Quote per infinitemonkies)

I remember quite a few of the nasty things my parents have said to me over the years. They seem to forget that I'll be the one picking out their nursing home in a few years

"Listen, buddy. We don't mess around with child safety here, ya got me? The fact that YOU think so little of your own child's well-being is appalling. Get out."

Does anyone else get the feeling that he was ticked off because HE was the one who really wanted to go on the ride?

Yes. That was the first impression I got after reading the post, actually.

What a horrible person and a horrible parent. I feel sorry for that little girl

Sadly we got a lot of adults that act like children. One woman was so pissed she left she her screaming little kid alone on the slide tower while she went down alone.

My parents seem to think that now that I'm an adult I should just let bygones be bygones & let all that bad stuff from my childhood just vanish into thin air & act as though they are the best parents that ever were. It doesn't work like that.

Nursing home? My mother will be lucky if they sterilize the needles in the place I send her too and I promise it won't be to recieve nursing. I'll be getting big financial kickbacks for it.

                      Way to go Dad.

The stupidity is strong with this SC.

Yeah, **** the height rules so your daughter can get into an accident when you're not paying attention so the water park is liable? Dad of the Year right there with that Santa Claus crack.

Sorry.. but that is awesome. Now all of us who have ever worked in retail have ruined Christmases, Kwanzaas, Hanukkahs, etc.. but to actually kill Santa? At a waterpark no less? Nicely done..
