  • Stupid of the Day - You're doin' it wrong....

    I was working on registrations paperwork and came across one who'd sent in his form and fees, but the form was a copy of the completed original - which means the signature also wasn't original. I had to send him the application back with a void letter telling him that photocopied signatures weren't accepted, and we needed an original to finish processing the registration.

    So he sent back the application, along with a note scribbled on my letter to him that he'd sent the original signature in the first place, but here it was again....

    And then faxed the whole mess back.

    At the DMV, we need to see original birth certificates for first time applicants. I must send away 2 - 3 people per day who have xeroxed copies of the BC. As I point out to them, the fact that the word VOID is all over the BC is a dead giveaway that we can't use it.

    But one bright person went to his bank and came back with the same xerox (VOID and all), and proudly pointed to me where he had the bank put a notary seal on the xerox. Apart from the fact that the notary was an idiot (just exactly what were they attesting to?), the fact remains that this piece of paper is VOID because it says it is.
    To seek it with thimbles, to seek it with care;
    To pursue it with forks and hope;
    To threaten its life with a railway share;
    To charm it with forks and hope!

      I work in Pension Processing, for many different large and small companies (outsourcing In the USA lol).

      I see this ALL DAY LONG... people make this and many other mistakes and scream and rant at us because they don't get their check on time.

        And if they had it to photocopy in the first place, why didn't they just bring that in to show you? Or, to quote Caboose....

        "If they've got a ship that can carry a tank, why not put guns on the ship and use that instead?"

        And everyone shakes their heads slowly and moves away.....
