and i'm all for being nice to officers in uniform... but... when people start walking around expecting EVERYTHING for free - it ruins it for everyone else.

back when my late uncle was on the force there was a nice little coffee shop that would keep them fueled up on java.... until one of the officers started acting entitled about it. the cafe ended up cutting everyone off because of him.

Yeah... some places will offer free coffee or a discount if an officer or firefighter is on duty, but it's not something to be EXPECTED. I'm pretty sure that the sushi place (that I'm a regular at) gave an officer a discount the other day, because I saw the number of digits on the bill and I know that it should have normally been more than that. But he also was known by them and was very nice and polite and never asked for anything special... he was in full uniform, catching an early dinner between court and going on shift.

(nice looking too... but don't tell anyone I said that! I swear that I wasn't drooling over the yummy officer... )

1# Lady- Who would ever think that any meat encased in tubing would be low salt??? How else would you make unappetizing cuts taste good unless you ground it up so you don't recognize it then spice it up so the yucky parts taste good?

All the rest I would say as Merriweather suggests above:

" I'm sorry, I must have totally misunderstood what you just suggested, because if I had heard it right, it would have meant you wish to take money away from what's being raised to help the school children. Since surely no one at a charity event would be attempting to take money away from that charity, I clearly must have misunderstood, so could you repeat your request".
