I want to know where the guy has been staying all his life? Every time you stay in a hotel you either have to put down a CC or give cash up front. Where are these magical hotels that let you stay using the honor system!

Ah!..I have been upstaged by smaller hotels. Thank you ExRetailDrone.

Just some clarification, at my hotel if a guest pays cash they must pay at check-in for the full amount of their intended stay. But we don't require any extra for deposit that they would get back once we know for sure that they didn't trash the room. So, not really the honor system fully, but I guess the owner doesn't think the rooms will get trashed? I'm not sure, but I was surprised to find out that there was no deposit required for cash pay, just one for pets, long-distance phone, and 3rd party that don't have a CC (which I've never heard of, but I suppose it could happen?)

Sorry if my first post was a bit unclear

ExRetailDrone, does that mean you block there long distance and movies if they don't pay a deposit or go over there balance?, because sometimes we do.

No room is set up by default to have long distance enabled. I haven't actually had anyone ask for long distance yet during any of my shifts, but I think they have to pay a deposit to get it turned on for them? I should ask my manager about that in case it ever comes up...

As far as movies, I believe that all the rooms have is HBO - no ability for pay movies.

Then some guy came in and said he would call the manager because he never ever of a hotel requiring a CC or cash deposit before in his life!!!! He said he stayed at a hotel last week that didnt need one.
Well, it wasn't so much a "hotel" as it was his Brother's place in Cincinnati, and, he didn't really "stay there" as much as he just hung out on the couch until his Brother finally threatened to call the police, but, still HE DIDN'T NEED A DEPOSIT!

an abandoned hotel in the desert.
I'm not sure why, but for some weird reason this sounded awesome, and I decided that I wanted to own an abandoned hotel in the desert. I'm going to run off and write a story set in an abandoned hotel in the desert right now.

In other news, the only hotels I ever stayed at that didn't require a credit card were really, really tacky and had things crawling around in them with lots of legs. I slept on the ceiling, if you're curious.

I ALMOST get the OP's screen name.

Also some women kept calling saying we didnt clean her room....and I had to keep explaining to her she had the DND on her door all day until 6pm.)

On the other side, the hotel I stayed at this past week skipped cleaning my room twice when I had the DND sign off my door before noon both days. First day it was off before noon, got a message from housekeeping at 2:45pm saying that they couldn't clean because the DND sign was on. Second day, sign was off my door before 11am, and same thing... message from housekeeping at 2:15pm saying that the DND sign was on.

The funny thing is that the housekeeping cart was NEXT door to me both days and I was in a dead-end hallways, so they had to walk past my door to get back to the mail hallway.

I admit that I was frustrated and called down to the desk...

                    That isn't a Catch-22 reference is it?

I thought I remembered even Norman Bates asking for $20 when Marion Crane checked in , because she didn't have a fixed address.

Ok....hint. The reference may be not be fair to some americans. The band didn't really hit it off down there.

Eh, I googled it, so it doesn't count, but now I get it.
