    OMG!

I'm with you Poofy_Puff. I think he's selling the blasted things. Worse yet, he's too stupid to hide the fact from Mommy Dearest.
I actually forgot to mention in the main thread that I know the boy. I work with him a couple of times a week in class, and he is a bit of a trouble maker. He really enjoys winding up adults, so I actually think he is hiding them to annoy her.

i agree; if he truly 'lost' them, make him work for the next pair. he's old enough to know better.

if he's selling them, well, woman, you have a problem on YOUR hands, YOU solve it.

"You probably think I am a horrible person, don't you?!!? Well I am not! I am a very nice woman!"
yes, and an entitled twat to boot. nice, i sincerely doubt that; you've harrassed people above and beyond the call of what they're obligated to do, consider yourself lucky that no one has filed harrassment charges against you. nice people ask for them to look, and if the item doesn't turn up in say, a week, take the hit and get on with life, but then again, we know the truth, don't we?
      look! it's ghengis khan!
Sorry, but while I can do many things, extracting heads from anuses isn't one of them. (so sayeth the irv)

I was 15 once, many years ago & I always knew where my shoes (boots actually) were.

So, at the moment, £100 is just over $160 USD. For my new job. I had to get some business casual shoes. I found a very nice, very comfy pair for $40, and these are far better than I would think would be required by a school.

She either lied about how much she spent (what did the receipt say?) or has decided that little Johnny is too good for "regular" shoes, in which case she really ought teach him about responsibility......which she can't do since she obviously doesn't have any herself.

I never saw the receipt myself, but I will try and find out when I am next at work. I will probably have an update on this story in a couple of days, because I really don't think I have seen the last of this lady.

It sounds like she spoils him, so she probably bought him the latest and greatest on the market. my guess is he's either selling them or stashing them so he can have multiple pairs. First pair was black. Was the second pair red?

The school has a strict uniform, so all the kids in the school have to wear black shoes. Which is why the task of finding the lost shoes was so difficult to begin with. There are 1000 students at the school, and every one of them is wearing "black shoes".

Why the buggery did she spend over a hundred quid on shoes?

                  Priorities - she has none.

To be fair, my Ryka sneakers cost around $110AUD, but those lasted ages...also I didn't wear them to school. That said, the Human skate shoes I wore fell apart after a while.

Does black shoes mean "business style shoes" or "as long as it's black, we don't give a crap?" I've been in situations where the former is required (work) and the latter is OK (school).

That said, I was able to find black work shoes for around $40 at a shoe store. They feel comfy as hell. (they're the lace-up style shoes, since the mary jane style shoes look odd with pants and I like wearing coloured socks )

Probably because she'd convinced herself (without actually checking) that the school would reimburse her. As in, "That will teach those bastards for letting my poor little didums's shoes get stolen."

The kid probably sold the shoes and is just pretending that he "forgot" them.
I didn't even think of that! Hmm.

True, but it's unlikely. The vast majority of pricy shoes are down to status symbols.
