I love that I live in a rural(ish) town now. I can walk up to a ticket booth at 11:30pm for a 11:59 showing and still get good seats with all my friends. (Definitely wasn't able to back when I lived in OC) I went to the showing last night and was quite pleased!
Also I agree with a previous poster...It's all about TRON: LEGACY!! midnight IMAX! WHOOO!!!!Now, if you smell the roses but it doesn't lift your spirits, you're either allergic to rose pollen or you need medical intervention. ~ Seshat

Well, I went to the midnight showing here with my brother. We got there at 11:20p and it was STILL packed. Only seats available were the two front rows and some scattered seats. We split up and watched it in separate seats until some people actually left 10m before it started. (WHY?)
Then on the ride back he needed gas, so we pulled into a gas station, left it and hit a pothole which totally destroyed his wheel. Knocked it off the mount, and ripped the whole CV joint off. Luckily, it looks like parts will not be needed but . . . car is unable to get anywhere.
To return to topic, there was no suck in the theatre I was in. I mean, sure, they were so hyped they cheered louder and longer than probably normal (you can guess which two lines) but it was all a blast to go see it with a crowd who REALLY was loving it.

My husband and I went to see Harry Potter last night for the 7:20pm showing. Because of his work schedule, he wouldn't have been able to go to the midnight showing (if there even was one here, I honestly didn't even look). I'm a huge fan, but I don't need to go see it at midnight. And to be sure we got tickets for the time we wanted, I went and bought them the day before (yay for a rural area where I didn't need to buy them weeks in advance) It was awesome to walk into the theatre, past the humungous line of people, up to the ticket taker, and then into the showing room
Another thing I don't understand about hugely popular first-day movie showings are the people who show up during the premiers (which usually start after the posted marquee times) and seem to wonder why there are no seatsOne of the theatre workers had to come into our theatre and tell people that there was another room showing the movie as well

Quoth Pagan View PostThe movie that is a must-see for me is Tron: Legacy.
Last time we went to Disneyland was for their ElecTRONica event. I still have a few tokens from the visit to Flynn's Arcade. Of course, that bastard Flynn has the high scores on Space Paranoids all tied up.Just bought my tix for the El Cap midnight showing.

Quoth Pagan View PostThe movie that is a must-see for me is Tron: Legacy.
This past year, I introduced the movie to a friend of mine who had, somehow, managed never to have seen the thing. Naturally, this had to be remedied ASAP >_> He is now one of the TRON faithful, and it happened that one of the next bits of vacuous entertainment that crossed our paths was the South Park episode with their version of "Moses"...(for non-SP fans, he looks and speaks like just the MCP...and he wants macaroni pictures. With glitter.). Had he never seen TRON, the major joke of the episode would have simply whooshed right over his head. Instead, I actually had to pause the show for a few minutes so he could regain his composure, as he was literally doing this:
"For a musician, the SNES sound engine is like using Crayola Crayons. Nobuo Uematsu used Crayola Crayons to paint the Sistine Chapel." - Jeremy Jahns (re: "Dancing Mad")

"Retail is a cruel master, and could very well be the most educational time of many people's lives, in its own twisted way." - me

Hubby and I went on Friday night. Even though we live in the city, we have a really great cinema close by that is NEVER full. We splurged on the "Gold lounge" seats (balcony, comfy big chairs and free soft drink and popcorn)
Saw the trailer for TRON: Legacy. Definately going to that!!! Loved the original and this one looks great.
Also, I agree with the others, the last Star Wars film was Return of the JediThe other 3 were ok in there own right, but should never be considered as part of the saga.
