Night people don't get sunlight either. At least until after the solstice, it's dark when I leave work at 7 am, and it's dark well before I get up between 7-8 pm. Only during the spring/summer is it still light out when I get up for work, and usually that's because I'm getting up really early for overtime.

Don't feel too bad everyone, I hate winter more than anyone, I'd assume. Everyone just keep the hope. It will go away. It will get warm and nice again eventually. Keep warm and keep busy. Do whatever you need to make this miserable time of year pass.

By the way, I think the solstice is soon. So after that, there will be more daylight, a little more each day.

I come to suck your blood! Lol, yeah I am one of those that work nights. Getting sick of working nights though..so once I graduate from College that will hopefully change (With more money...score!). Won't miss the quiet and few bosses though.
Engaged to the amazing Marmalady. She is my Silver Dragon, shining as bright as the sun. I her Black Dragon (though good honestly), dark as night..fierce and strong.

The lack of engineers and bigpants bigwigs are why I really like nights, besides just the extra money.

I've got an explanation for you....

Christmas time....Winter Solstice....Full moon....Lunar Eclipse (the first one to fall on a winter solstice full moon in 300 some odd years)

combine all that.... it is a recipe for DOOM...I'm not looking forward to work tonight.

It's going to really piss people off tonight if they can't stay up to watch it, and also the fact that another wonderful winter storm is brewing, and the meterologist on TV said that it was going to be nearly impossible to see tonight with all the clouds and snow, for all of us in the path of the storm.

              Eek.

There probably isn't a reason, things just clump like that.

We get patterns that make sense - lots of debts and family problems after the holidays for example. But then there are random days - one day everyone seemed to want advice on divorce, another day every decides to try and collect money owed to them by friends or family...

Complaints can come in like that too.

It can also be slightly self-perpetuating. Once you are on edge then the customers become more on edge and it can make confrontations more likely.

Hopefully though your bad luck has passed and it's time for a random clump of something less troublesome.

              Tomorrow.

              Completely off topic :

I take the day off to go shopping. Christmas shopping can be so horrible so I take the day off and go to the seaside. I get a nice trip out, treat myself to lunch, the shops are nice and less crowded than the city and it's generally a good day.

At Brighton they have a parade for the solstice so I kind of fixed on that day. People make lanterns in the shape of clocks, parade through the town, burn them on the beach and have fireworks. It goes right past a rather nice pizza restaurant (with people from the parade even coming in to collect money for charity).

The only downside is that I basically buy gifts for 3 people. 2 of them now come with me, and the third has been hinting she'd like to come too

My place of work gives extra days off as "religious days" (which I suspect to be unlawful, but complaining would lose colleagues days off not gain me anything). We all get Christmas and Easter anyway but if you celebrate a different religion you can get the relevant holidays off. Extra days paid leave. If I was less honest I'd just claim to be a pagan and save a days leave. (Unfortunately my manager is aware I am an atheist and will just point out that I should really have negative religious days and not get Christmas and Easter).

Fun fact: The eclipse happens at 2:41 in the wee hours tomorrow morning, and NASA is streaming it, so if your area is too overcast, you can watch it online.
